He has a clause for that precise amount if he doesn’t play a certain amount of minutes this season. Which he’s nowhere near getting.

The clause has been reported as  staggered I think - rises to 20 million euros after 1500 mins?

Yeah, think so, but he apparently has to play nearly every single minute for the rest of the season to get past the £4.8m clause, if he can at all.

Don’t know how accurate the figures are, but this says he’d played 964 mins on 27th April. Haven’t checked how many games are left etc, but a load of sites say it’s unlikely he’ll make 1500 mins. 

 

“The most important one for Newcastle states that if Guler plays less than 1,500 minutes in a season, his release clause will plummet to just £4.5m. The teenager has clocked 964 minutes so far this campaign and he must play the vast majority of the remaining minutes available to avoid Fenerbahce losing him for a cut-price fee.”

2 of the names that are being consistently linked are K Thuram and Diaby and I'm a fan of both but would it not be a better plan to unite the Thuram brothers as Marcus is on a free and could play the goal scoring wideman role. I think Diaby is the better player but for the price difference may be something to look at

I think we have our sights set on Vitor Roque - put it this way I am confident that the club has there man lined up already - just waiting for our league position to be confirmed

I'd be very concerned about the right-back position there. If we could get someone like Hickey who would probably be good enough to be first-choice LB already but is equally comfortable at RB, we'd be laughing.

Yeah, everyone expects us to sign a LB but to me RB is far more a priority. There is just no depth in quality there at all, if Trippier goes down the other choices are of an unknown quantity where as LB is far more consistent between Burn/Targett.

Seems a very exciting prospect. Hopefully we get our Arda this time around. Seem to remember we were linked with Arda Turan from about 2008 to 2011 until he eventually went to Atletico Madrid.
