Realistic Transfer Targets (2025/26)

Recommended Posts

Probably not the type of player we are looking for but that Somerville has looked impressive for West Ham. He seems to be playing a big part in their turnaround in form.

Was never fully convinced the few times I saw him for Bournemouth. Zabarnyi always impressed me more, but sounds like he's been a bit shit at PSG too

Are they players who are good in certain systems?

A certain keeper is apparently wanting to engineer a move away from Man City in the summer. Maybe you shouldn't have signed there in the first place knowing you'd be nowhere near first choice ya feckin gimp.

Prefers Villa according to FootballInsiderMan

Again, Trafford signed before City surprised everyone and brought in Donnarumma.

At the time there were reports that we made a pig push for Delap, and him and his agents etc were very impressed with their meeting with Howe. I'm pretty certain we'll be in for him again.

Never seemed a good fit for how Chelsea play, as he did so well in that Ipswich team because they looked for him early in behind and down the channels, more akin to how we play.

Regarding the fee, I imagine Chelsea will quickly try to get back around what they paid for him, they have Jackson coming back in the summer, along with Emegha who they've already signed from Strasbourg. Guiu is still on their books too.

I hope this is true and we bring in a few from Brazil. Players who could potentially elevate us are

Breno Bidon - cheaper Kees Smit

Allan - linked to before a RW and AM.

Pedro Morisco - GK who could be second choice initially but super talented. 26 clean sheets last season in the Brazil second tier.

Just seen the bin dippers are interested (not important if true) in Yan Diomande. Red Bull Leipzig signed off Leganes a year ago, now hes rated at 50-100 mil. Just another example of it being far more important to match top European scouting before we can compete. That time we had 65 mil for Guehi, had we prepared, could have signed an immediate purple at centre back and 2 prospects with the rest.

He'll probably cost too much  now and isn't exactly an exciting signing.  But since we were linked with James Garner, I've tried to pay a bit more attention to him.  He always impresses and is really versatile, too.  Decent set pieces, good on the ball, works his arse off.  Would offer another option as the 6, I think could play as an 8 and was decent at right back last night.

Would be yet another 'HOWE ONLY BUYS PLAYERS FROM THE PREM' signing.  But I can see us being linked again, if the price wasn't obscene.

Signed a new deal last month, mind.  So it probably means we're now priced out.

Around this time I like to look at potential targets from clubs that could be relegated. We've bought players in the past from relegated clubs (Tino, Barnes, Pope) but we're probably moving away from that. Haven't really factored in cost more just player profiles we may be interested in:

Wolves

Hugo Bueno - good age at 23 and can cover both right and left back positions. Was impressed by him at SJP but haven't seen a whole load of him and I don't think he's even been a regular for Wolves until recently. He might count as being homegrown too despite being Spanish (have to check that). Probably the Manquillo esque player we could do with in the squad

Matheus Mane - playing regularly for them and only 18 looks a real talent

Andre and Joao Gomes - both are Brazilian internationals and good ages. Neither have really stood out to me but might be just because Wolves are pretty rubbish

Burnley

Maxime Estève - regularly linked to Spurs and other Prem clubs, good age at 23, rated really highly by Burnley fans and think he'll be on the move this summer

West Ham

Jarrod Bowen - probably too old to get any resale value and not sure how much he'll want to leave West Ham even if they go down but a younger version of him would have been perfect for our right hand side

Crysencio Summerville - would only be if we got rid of one of Barnes and Gordon but I've always liked Summerville

Mateus Fernandes - could be two relegations in a row for him but could be a midfield option for us

Soungoutou Magassa - not been a good season for him but he was highly rated before joining West Ham and he's only 22

Nottingham Forest

Murillo - left sided centre back with good distribution and only 23

Neco Williams - not a sexy name but someone who can cover both full back positions and only 24

Callum Hudson Odoi - still somehow only 25 and an option should we need a left winger

Morgan Gibbs White - will be 27 next season so if he's going to make a move to a bigger club it's going to have to be sooner rather than later

Elliot Anderson - being earmarked for one of the Manchester clubs but will throw his name in there anyway

Tottenham Hotspur

Lucas Bergvall - rumours he was linked with Chelsea and Villa in January, only 20 and loads of potential there

Archie Gray - not wholly convinced by him but only 19 and covers a lot of positions

Dejan Kulusevski - hard working right winger, always really liked him but been out injured for ages

Djed Spence - England international who can play both full back positions

Micky van der Ven - fast centre back option, will be v expensive you'd imagine

Mohammed Kudus - would be really good for our right hand side if he can stay fit

Pape Matar Sarr - didn't realise he's only 23 - never been that convinced by him but could be a midfield option

Leeds United

Jayden Bogle - another unsexy name but he's been really good for Leeds, can cover full back positions and only 25

Brenden Aaronson - seems to be finally finding his feet in the Prem and played really well against us but not sure he'd fit well here

Gabriel Gudmundsson - looks a really good pick up from Lille with a nice delivery and crosses. Could be a good alternative to Hall

Ethan Ampadu - omly 25 but a real leader than can play defensive mid and cover centre back

Pascal Struijk - Leeds fans think he's one of their best players - I can't say I've really noticed it but throwing him in there

Anton Stach - German international, midfield option with a good set piece delivery. Can't see us being interested in him

Dominic Calvert Lewin - looks fit and firing again and feels like he's older than 28

A good selection there. Not bad options. Good fire sale options to boost our depth and get rid of some of the oldies like Krafth, Trippier etc.

Hugo Bueno/Neco Williams - either would provide valuable cover on each side. 25M - replaces Krafth, Trippier
Matheus Mane - 35m - will be a big fight to get him but we can offer him Osula's role and meaningful minutes
If we sold Botman, Murillo would be an excellent replacement
Maxime Estève - good Lascelles or Schar alternative
Mateus Fernandes - good Willock replacement
You didn't mention him but the LB at West Ham would be a great Hall back up - Diouf

If we could get any winger, CHO or Kudus. Kulu was great but injured always - plus scarred from Swedish wingers.

Probably out of our reach but would like them
Bergvall
Van der Ven
Elliot Anderson

MGW - if we have Bruno, we don't need him.

An awful cunt, no thanks.

Few good suggestions elsewhere though, aside from the obvious, Esteve would be an interesting one - always been impressed by him.

Prompted me to have a look at who is out of contract at the end of next seasons, according to transfermarket anyway. Van Hecke, Ederson and Hayden Hackney all jumped off the list.
