Is that Zan Vipotnik any good? Top scorer in the Champ.

Esteban Lepaul - Top scorer in France 19 goals

Joaquín Panichelli - 20 in 39 for Strasbourg. BTW Thauvin has three player of the month awards over there :laugh2:

Fisnik Asllani - 10 goals, 9 assists for Hoffenheim

Armand Laurienté - 6 goals, 9 assists for Sassuolo in Seria A - Left wing

Farès Chaïbi - AM with 2 goals and 9 assists for Frankfurt

Bazoumana Touré - 4 goals and 12 assists for Hoffenheim

Would love Julian Ryerson - 13 assists from RB. Prob out of reach.

I've been saying it all season that I'd have gone for Vipotnik last summer as the development striker, would have been £5-£10m.

Signed a new contract a few months back and looking at £25m+ this summer.

He'll get a move then be a £60m player in a couple of years. He'll also dislodge Sesko for the national team for the next Euros

He needs coaching and experience at a higher level but he's got the tools and attitude.

I'd be happy with a Jackson, Osula, Vipotnik striker pool next year under Howe.

Jarod Bowen anyone?

Obviously quality-wise you would say yes, but it goes against pretty much everything that’s recently been spoken about in terms of changing our approach.

30 this year, would command a fairly hefty fee, would probably have to make him our top earner etc.

He's obviously better than him and more of a sure thing, but they'll have been completely burned by Wissa to go after anybody in that age and price bracket. And rightly so IMO.

Bowen's a much better player than Wissa man.

Think he'll have better offers though if West Ham go down. Gets a 4 year contract - You may only get 1-3 years out of him at this level which a club like Liverpool can gamble on but we can't.

Just having a cursory glance at players with contracts due to expire next summer:

  • Ederson (Atalanta)
  • Curtis Jones (Liverpool)
  • Hayden Hackney (Boro)
  • Van Hecke (Brighton)
  • Antonio Silva (Benfica)

Would definitely take them 3. I think Hackney will be on the radar of a few clubs though, but he looks a talent.

Curtis Jones would be an expensive squad filler and I've never really thought much of Van Hecke. Antonio Silva is another one that will probably be on the radar of a few clubs.

Find it interesting that people would rather Hackney who has never played a minute in the PL over 2 time winner Curtis Jones

Hackney went to my old school. Good Catholic lad.

Didn’t realise Jones was in that position. Gives a bit more credibility to the links perhaps.

Imagine he’d be available at around the £25m/£30m mark, and not overly big wages.

Maybe a bit too similar to Ramsey in some respects, and probably only a goer in Tonali were to leave.

Geremi, Damien Duff, Alan Smith and Nicky Butt says hi.

I think people have a dislike of players who play/ played for one of the big 6 clubs

Maybe because we see them every week they're less exciting than a foreign youngster. Or that if they're not good enough for one of the elite clubs they aren't good enough for us either

Think it's more the fact he could have a higher ceiling and would probably be a fair bit cheaper. There's a fair bit of talent in the Championship that have become very established players in the PL.

Don't really fancy signing any cartel cast offs either FWIW.

A higher ceiling than England international and Premier League winner Curtis Jones?

Hackney is only a couple of years younger than Jones and never played in the top flight

It's more that a player like Jones would probably see us as a step down.

My issue is wether their hunger is still strong after what they may see as a retrograde step club wise.

That's what I was getting at as well.

Let’s not pretend Curtis Jones is out special man. He’s the exact type of signing we shouldn’t be making.

Hackney might also be shite, but then Morgan Rogers could have too when Villa took a punt. I’d rather sign someone who may have a higher ceiling than someone who might be an expensive mistake.

In fairness it’s a daft conversation anyway as we’re far more likely to sign Jones than Hackney.

Jones is a perfectly fine PL player. But so is Jacob Ramsey. If we got him on the cheap and he wasn’t expected to directly replace Tonali or Bruno, I’d be fine with signing him.

He’d also be on a hiding to nothing here, being a Scouser n’ all. Gotta replace Gordon as the Scouse boogeyman I suppose.

Bigger wages. Lower resale value.

It's what we're meant to be moving away from.

This is true but they may be significantly better players than those who've never played top flight football
