Can't even be upset with him. This is who he is now at 34.

Howe needs to take the blame. It's one thing to have him in the side for his tactical awareness in a back 5 defending a 2 goal lead against a static Arsenal attack.

But to play him in a 4 against this City side with the pace they have in attack was suicidal.

He's still a very good footballer technically, but his physical limitations are there for all to see (and have been for some time). We have to use him just right until the summer. Tino needs to develop mentally - competition is the best thing to drive that.

Doesn't help when his CB partner is also very, very slow.

We had a good year out of him. The first 6 months he was here he was mostly injured for.

Last season 3 games a week caught up with him.

This season he’s just been outright poor.

We really should have cashed in on him in January with Turkish teams after him.

he's better as a calming influence coming off the bench.

You say that but we always seem to look worse when he’s subbed on. His strength as a footballer was never his defensive abilities anyway.

He's finished man and should never be played ahead of Tino. We need to sell in the summer and bring another right back in. Love Tripps for that first couple of years but it's over.

Really disagree with this. Howe completely isolated both him and Hall with his tactics of going man for man. You have to be perfect to play like that and it didn’t work today.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing but he got it very wrong today.

It's a distinction without a difference.

City isolated Trippier, but they were only able to do so because they exploited our tactic of going man for man.

Did we expect them to not try to exploit that weakness? If we play him in a back 4 against any decent side, they can do the same. I think we can safely expect the opposition to at least have some knowledge about our players.

They were able to gain a numerical advantage v both full backs because they beat our lackluster press with smart, relatively direct football. I'm sure the intention wasn't to leave him hung out to dry.
