How good was it to see him back though? he hardly played this season yet when he does he contributes to us winning big games.

Burn was great but you could see the difference in actual talent when Botman looked to play progressive passes. 
Tough choice between the 2.

It's really noticeable when he's playing because the incisive pass is into midfield rather than by the midfield.

If Burn was 5 years younger I reckon Botman could have a problem. But given Burn is getting on and the money spent on Botman I think he’d probably pencilled in as the main LCB for next season. Glad he’s got a player of Burn’s calibre to compete against.

he was really good. I didn't see any rustiness in his performance at all.

Looked like Burn and Schar felt more comfortable with him back there...never flustered

He absolutely is, he’s got that elite level belief in his ability too. All his decision making is so clear in his head

Tonali singled him out as one he loves to play with (in response to a question about which players he has the best relations with). As good a season as Burn has had in his position, I think Botman is held in very high regard amongst the squad. He's in that Isak, Tonali, Bruno bracket of being one of our best players. We just need to somehow keep him fit.

Did exactly the same against Arsenal. He is our number one defender, as his passing opens space into midfield and also opens up the wing

Will be plenty of games for both next season.

Ideally he'll be okay for Arsenal. I'd be happy with a back 5 of Tino, Burn, Botman, Schar and Krafth. 

 

Give Barnes a rest for this and get Murphy back at RW, Keep Gordon LW.

Dont need rest with one game a week and only two games left. Just sub him out earlier when he clearly is knackered.

No chance I would play Barnes with Saka on that side. He just doesn't cover back whilst Gordon does.

I thought we played fantastic in the first half. 

He made most of his mistakes in the later part of the game.

Dan Burn has been the best centre half in the whole of the Premier league by far this season. He's brilliant. Just some people don't see it.

Also obviously we discuss squad a lot and we've achieved so much this season and this lad has barely played. Lewis hall has been out for long periods too. The cartel better hope we don't have money to spend because we are about to pack them up
