What hope do we have when they can offer a player with one decent season under his belt more money than our highest earner by a country mile.

Fuck it off man.

We aren't meant to have hope, the PL is set up to protect the interests of the existing cartel.

Your coping brother.

 Possibly. You think we didnt know Liverpool had targeted him? I think we 100% knew he was their second target after Isak. In game theory applications of negotiations on large multi-million pound deals, telling Liverpool Isak is not for sale and getting them to move for their second target does two things: it decreases the chances of Liverpool signing Isak and at the same time, reduces the negotiation power of Isak's agent.

Yes, he was on the shortlist of most of the sky 6. It was thought they'd all pass due to the asking price though.

I think Liverpool's intentions were clear, they wanted Isak we told them to go rummage in some bins and they ended up with the second choice. No rocket science or conspiracy needed.

We are getting a harsh lesson this summer that while our talent ID is clearly top notch, we haven’t the financial muscle to pay the fees and wages Liverpool, Chelsea, Man United can pay and will need to eat our humble pie that agents and selling clubs may sniff out those clubs and deals and wait out doing a deal with us if they feel they can get it done.

I have always felt the club was always doing its utmost best to be the best version of itself but I have major questions for PIF, Jamie and whoever makes up the executive team at the club. They are cocking up what should have been a transformative summer on the back up an absolutely brilliant season. Failing the fans, the general staff, football staff, players and coaches by not creating alignment on the major drivers of our clubs future.

No conspiracy implied. Good tactics. If you want to keep Isak, make the club with the highest interest in go for their second target. Simple way to do this is a. say Isak is never being sold and b. make a bid for their second target. There is logic and cope in what i say.

The failure has been the appointment of Eales and then not replacing him once he was deemed unfit to do the job.

Shows what we're competing with.

If he doesn’t click that’s a very, very expensive mistake.

Near £80m fee. £68.6m in wages across the 6 year contract.

Liverpool have a ceiling though. Presuming it’s the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican compared to our 1 bed bungalow.

We werent in for him. We were meant to have agreed personal terms before we bid. His agent would have told us roughly that figure. Doesnt make any sense.

I'm sorry but if you meet with both the agent and the club reps in person (multiple different reporters said this) then it was very serious.

Things changed once Liverpool got involved, but it was quite obvious they wanted him.

Like you can choose to believe this version of events if you want, that's really up to you but it's not based in reality whatsoever.

So you think we genuinely wanted to sign him on 200k plus a week for over 70m? Doesn’t feel realistic to me. Liverpool didn’t suddenly ‘get involved’, their interest was known before we bid. Is it just coincidence that they sign him and not Isak?

Aye we just met his and Frankfurt's representatives in person for a laugh.

It's very obvious the club wanted someone who could play with Isak and/or spell for him when he's unavailable and were willing to pay big money to do so.

Thus the Pedro and Delap links (obviously Delap's clause means he would have been cheaper)

They've been after this specific type of player all summer and thought Ekitike could have been had. I'm sorry the idea they wasted all this time to just smoke out Liverpool is very pie in the sky stuff.
