Also really shouldn't let this disturb me anymore but the idea of someone born during the 2002 World Cup now playing professional football reminds me that I'm horribly old now.

You wanna try talking about the 66 world cup to people and all I get in response is I wasn't born !

I always think of Palace as an example around forwards. They have Benteke, Mateta, Ayew and Edouard. All of whom are average to poor, but all can occupy a defender, run about and convert a cross from 6 yards.

Barring superstar signings, that’s the kind of setup I would be OK with for a while.

Mateta has only started 2 games this season, 3 sub appearances, one of which being 4 minutes against us. He only started 2 games last season as well, 1 goal. He's really a nothing player.

Yeah, but I mean the strategy of just having a few very average strikers to always be there to do a job.

His team are one of if not the youngest squads in all of Europes main leagues, to score 8 is an achievement.

He does look rough around the edges though, definitely a case of buying potential

It's always more exciting to buy potential than over the hill strikers at the end of their careers. Let's see if this actually comes to anything before we get too carried away though.
