Make someone else captain then.

Impossible, Eddie has chosen this way, the harmony was probably working before with the core English lads, but including Bruno in that,

but one can only assume, the former leadership of Tripps,Wilson,Lascelles,Burn, perhaps the fact those three could be sold sooner rather than later influenced his choice.

My opinion for what it's worth, means Bruno is captain unless Howe left, he's not at all bad at the the role, but perhaps he demanded it, rather than earned it? Assuming his team put that forward in contract talks.

Tbh though, I've no idea though, based on assumption.

He’s one of 3 that Man City want in Jan according to tomorrows Times.

Is his release clause active in January? I seem to remember it being slightly convoluted in the summer, and was only active to a certain date?

No, I don’t think it is.

i reckon if the price is right though, we’ll sell.

Good question, although the latest chatter is about them offering a player/s as makeweight. Rather than us getting the full whack.

Great character and can win a free kick but his shooting reminds me of Diana Ross in the USA opening ceremony, also has the pace of an asthmatic sloth.. Canny at fist pumps but anything around 70m should be snaffled asap..

I really don’t want to lose him, but cash plus Oscar Bobb wouldn’t be a bad deal.

Bobb is injured isn't he? Also he seems like one Pep wants to keep.

I think he has retuned to training and was listed as one they are willing to let go to help make room for other signings. Probably all media rubbish mind.

Always found the Man City link strange, I know they are struggling now but I just don't think he is good enough to be a regular in an elite Pep team. They obviously didn't fancy him in the summer either with that release clause he had .

He's easily good enough. People on here seem to criminally underrate Bruno right now.

There was a two week window to buy him for 100m on the summer. Hardly evidence they 'dont fancy him'.

He should be really good in a team which can counter press well and dominate possession. He's a very inventive creative passer.

There's a trend of thinking all our players are crap now because they're all not playing well. But the fact they're all not playing well at the same time tells me there's something else going on, and it's probably not a straightforward reflection of their abilities.

He is a decent player but I wouldn't want us to sign a player with a broken leg. Would need to see how he recovers first.

This. Bit too coincidental that basically all of our players bar Hall and possibly Burn seem below their usual levels, stats not up to scratch and they’re wildly inconsistent.

To balance it out. I do think Howe managed to mask certain players deficiencies and elevate quite a few above their level. But our big name, big money players haven’t suddenly become shit. But none of them are performing well.

It is also this place after some bad results and performances. One week player X is one of our best signings of all time. The next he’s shit, past it and needs moving on.

I'm not suggesting we won't sell him, and indeed we do need to recycle players at some point for FFP reasons so on that level I'd understand if we did, but anyone suggesting selling him is a good idea needs their head read.

We're struggling right now to break teams down and he's our most creative player. It'll leave a massive hole.

I'd imagine if he were to be sold it would be contingent on also bringing someone in, possibly not even a direct replacement.

Yeah I don't doubt we'd use the money, this isn't the Ashley era. But we'd either have to bring someone in better for less, or be left worse off as a squad.

Personally I can't see who would be better for less, though I'm sure there's players out there. It's a big world. Just feels like a risky dice roll, but eventually we have to roll it I guess, if not for Bruno then for one of the other big names because FFP means we can't let everyone retire here.

We do need to be better sellers, but that needs a really good long-term plan and strategy. We'll just have to trust that when we do sell someone, it's part of such a plan.

That can happen during a match.

Maybe not better per se as somebody who's more complimentary to Tonali and maybe more attacking. It could give us a chance to alter the playing strategy.

That's not to say I'm all for it, just that it needn't be all bad, we could end up in a stronger position for it.

Ironically that might be our best chance of keeping him. He's 27 now so probably at that stage where we could extract big money for him. But that might also be the reason why clubs won't pay anything like £100m for him. City might be one of the few clubs who might offer something close, but even they'll probably come in with something like £60-70million and we won't sell for that.

FWIW I don't want to sell him at all, but not sure how we square that with PSR and future team building.

Wouldn't be too disappointed if he went to City for £80m or so. PSR doesn't allow us to fix all the other major deficiencies in our squad, so this would go some way to helping.

A new ground or extension is many years off (I'm not convinced either will happen personally), and still no sign of major sponsorships, so regularly turning a big profit on player assets is the only way to maintain a challenge for a CL place.
