65m ffs, 75 rising to 80 at least.

Been doing some snooping around, to see what the chatter is.

There's a chance the deal might be £65 million plus Matheus Nunes.

Not worth it, Nunes will be on super high wages. We’re better off getting £65m and a couple of their highly rated youngsters (Lavia level etc).

Papers today saying they’d sell McAtee and Bobb to buy Florian Wirtz. Either of them would be handy.

He's allegedly on £130k a week while Bruno is on £160k (going by consensus of all the websites that report it when you google them). Don't think money plus Nunes is such a bad idea in theory.

Isn't nunes another box to box kind which is something we have in abundance already.

Assuming our most sellable assets are Bruno, Isak and Gordon and we are considering moving one on so that we can rebuild the squad. I’d sell the latter before the other two. Not even close, for me.

I don't know tbh. I thought he was an attacking midfielder who can play as a cm/b2b, but he's also been used on the wing by Pep on a few sub appearances. Haven't watched him (or paid attention to him specifically) enough to say really.

I wonder whether Liverpool would even come back in for him for a sizeable fee, maybe?

I'm not sure his or the team's performances are helping his value.  Not suggesting he wants to leave or that we should sell him.  Just that I think he is more easily replaced than Bruno and Isak if we HAVE to go down that route.

I think Isak is understandably going to want away unless our performances suddenly do a 180 and we start playing well consistently and racking up some wins.  I think the others will have less suitors for the money we'd want and are less likely to be demanding to move.

I think at this stage we need a mini rebuild. It's difficult to imagine the team without players like Bruno because he has been our talisman and standout midfielder for a couple of years, but if we replaced him with a quality #10 and bought an effective right winger with the proceeds, it could be the catalyst to kick us on. It's hard not to be sentimental in these situations but we'd move on quickly if we started climbing the league again

I don't want him to go but I accept that's the stupid way of the Premier League atm. I do wish he hadn't been made special blackboard monitor captain (or whatever)  though, we just seem to have nosedived a bit since that's happened. It seems the team spirit has dropped off since that time too and I'm not sure if that's coincidence or a factor in our form.

Trippier was a miles better leader, that's not taking anything at all away from Bruno, but Bruno is the guy who rallies up the crowd with his personality, for leadership and talking on the pitch Tripps was always in peoples ears, did it with us and with England, Bruno is about moments, you rarely see him rallying the troops on the pitch, talking, pointing to players where to be, motivating and mentoring.

I’d sell Gordon over Bruno mind (I’d rather keep both). Gordon is made for the style we play now, or style we did play. Moving away from that style, I don’t think he will be anywhere near as effective.

If we ever sell Bruno, we should go all out for a proper number 6. We should do that regardless tbh.

You don't think we've got that covered now with Tonali? Or push Tonali into Bruno's position and fill the #6 gap with someone else?

Haven’t seen enough of Tonali in that role yet, I do think we miss a proper number 6 though.

Make someone else captain then.

Sends the wrong message to strip someone of the captaincy when he hasn't really done anything wrong. Honestly, I don't think it makes a world of difference who wears the armband on the pitch. It's rarely a transformational role, unless you're Roy Keane or Steven Gerrard

Aye, the importance of captains is often overstated imo.

Agree, was just a response to the post about how much better a captain Trippier was. I don't think it makes much difference myself.
