Like when?

He's unbelievable at getting out of tight spaces and winning free kicks when the pressure is on him

haven't got the specific incidents , it's a trait in his game I noticed, if you didn't.I wholeheartedly agree about his assets

I find it hard to believe that a professional set piece coach would put any time at all into a 'play' that results in a goal roughly once for all teams combined per every 1.3 Premier League Seasons

Watching him trying to recover ground is a bit alarming. He has a habit of running into trouble deep in our half and it hasn't really been addressed. He has an odd ball striking technique that makes some of his shooting a bit limp.

Love love the rest of his game

Yeh he’s slow.  But he does his defensive work diligently, he’s aggressive and brave.

He does like to hold the ball and it leads to sticky situations which he escapes or buys a foul 95 times out of 100.

Yeh he’s ball striking when shooting is unconventional.  Yet he’s got more goals in the PL over the last 2.5 seasons than players with rocket launch shots like Declan Rice, Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandes, Rodri (take the last 2 fit seasons), MacAllister, Szob, Gravenberch.  I can’t actually think of any CM in the league (who doesn’t play as 10 at all) who has more goals than him in the PL going back 2 full seasons.

If he had Tonali’s top speed he would literally be the best central midfielder in the world.

This is why I still think he’s under rated. Tonali apart he’s leagues ahead of any other CM we’ve had. Levels above. As great as Tonali is - Bruno is the playmaker - the pure footballer.

Only behind Shearer.  Lift another trophy and he goes #1.

The current set piece trend of running in from the side and dropping the ball right on top of the keeper means there’s a strong chance of an Olympico, surprised it hasn’t happened previously this season (I don’t think). Theres been quite a few close ones.

It does seem like for some reason this is more popular than ever. It’s looked to me for some time the best route against a lot of modern keeper.  I remember when Vicario first came to the league he looked shakey with anything on top of him. As do most keepers tbf

Bruno is better than Tonali for me. His technique, ability to slip a pass through to create changes and score.
Tonali is far more athletic and reads the game better defensively. I just think what Bruno offers is much rarer in a CM.

The cup final is probably the best example I guess?

Think he did it at home to Bournemouth too in the 1-4 last season which cost us a goal?

Can't give any specific incidents either but there's definitely plenty of times he's lost the ball not far from the edge of our own box whilst trying to turn someone. But can't think of him doing/losing it much this season.

I mean there's examples of every player in the world losing the ball in their own half.

Obviously. But I think @Holloway is probably referring to Bruno losing it whilst trying to do a turn whilst marked instead of just keeping it simple .

Valid points, I feel a bit mean pointing out his flaws given the love affair he is in with us

Aren't you taking a big part of his game away if you stop that though? He's normally brilliant at being able to turn or wriggle away from challenges and opponents deep in our half and setting us away. He's going to lose it on occasions, same way a goalkeeper will pass it straight to the forward (see Raya against us in the Carabao Semi for example) occasionally, but the upside of that side of their game more than makes up for the times they'll lose it.

Have a feeling he will be targeted for rough treatment today. Pretty sure he knows how to handle such situations. Would be more concerned if his mate is playing who tends to go into hunt/revenge mode.

I'd play Joelinton first half then Miley second potentially. Have Joelinton in for the fight and to soak up some of their bullshit aggression then unleash the more technical player in Miley.

Is Joelinton not out for today?
