Thought he was poor for the first too Burn was probably one of the only players worthy of any credibility today. Him, Dubravka and Joelinton. Burn was by far and away our man of the match. nufcjmc Posted yesterday at 11:23 Share Posted yesterday at 11:23 I love him and he's been great this season but no idea what this being the most advanced player chasing down players on the wing is all about. That clumsy challenge where they got a free kick just seemed to be inviting pressure to begin with him staying so high up following a corner then to allow them to loft it forward from a free kick when he committed a foul. I know we want our players to do a bit of everything but stick to defending and if there is a ball to chase the attackers should be doing this. Kudus and Bowen were splitting and going wide - meant he had to decide to track or leave. He gives 110%, he is massive for us but realistically he's not at the level of a side chasing top 8. La Parka Posted yesterday at 12:52 Share Posted yesterday at 12:52 True. Maybe I'm being too harsh. It probably doesn't help that Schar is regressing every day.

Having Sven, Hall & Dubs in there lifted the composure we had as a team in general play.
Vaj Posted yesterday at 12:58 Share Posted yesterday at 12:58 Burn has had a good season but I said months ago that he should be dropped for Botman as soon as possible despite his performances this season (obviously not a possibility now). He does a lot of good last ditch defending, top defenders don't do that as much because they don't get into those positions as much in the first place. His lack of pace, mobility and passing ability exposes him and then requires him to do some last ditch defending.
andycap
What's our plan on set pieces? Because hoisting a ball to burn isn't working he can't direct the header very well he can't score it seems from them either, maybe we should use him as a decoy to drag players away and target someone else. Lush Vlad
I sometimes wish he would be a bit more Chris Samba with his defending. As he is a very good defender, reads it well, quality in the air, positionally he is good from crosses and a whole load more. But when he tries to play a bit or make cute interceptions that aren't really on, he gets found wanting and often makes a mistake getting caught out of position and then struggling to get back. It's hard to criticise the high pressing from him, as well as Schar to a lesser degree. As they are obviously instructed to follow their man in such a way. But even against a shit West Ham team, it caused us issues at times and the lack of mobility and cover in our back 4 is starting to get exposed regularly when teams go direct and bypass our press altogether. gbandit
Find it hard to ever criticise this lad when he plays CB. He does so much for us and is our most committed player game after game
