It's such a bizarre tactic, it's not as if he has the end product to justify the great big fuck-off gap that you just know nobody has bothered to fill in the middle of the pitch. Why not just hold his defensive line This and his pressing - that’s on EH - he doesn’t have the mobility to it - not sure what EH is trying to achieve
Optimistic Nut
I just don't see it anymore. He should be 3rd choice CB now, 4th when Schar is back. He only seems good in the air when he has a run at the ball or unchallenged. When he's in a dual he's weak as fuck.
JoeyBartoon
He’s squeezed everything out of his ability, but that ability has a ceiling, and you can see it every time he’s plays.
Guillaume
Shouldn't have been anywhere near the starting 11 this season, too old and slow.

He seems to be losing his head a fair bit defensively. He’s also injured. He got caught wincing at least twice during the game and holding his ribs when the camera panned onto him. JP
Burn and Trippier a huge problem in us trying to squeeze teams man for man at home. Team selection which included these 2 was baffling yesterday. Botman wouldn't dare follow anyone into midfield or even further up the pitch as we've seen before as leaving Burn 1 v 1 holds too much fear. Same applies to Trippier/Tino. 1 clean sheet this season (v Wolves) with Dan Burn starting at CB.
Optimistic Nut
Not sure how he didn't have his body in a position to just boot Le Fee's ball in away. There was only one place a cross/pass could go and he wasn't prepared for it at all. Edited March 23 by Optimistic Nut

Thankfully Larsen was injured that day!

He wasn't our best player last season, that has to go to Isak or Tonali, but he was good - at centre half. The left back thing always works for one or two games then ends up turning horrific. It worked in the 4th placed season as we had a great balance across the pitch and our ultra-attacking right hand side made up for it.

Loki679
This bloke's lived the dream. Signed for his hometown club, played in the Champions League, got an England call up and won a trophy for his team for the first time in decades. Deserves every bit of it too, cracking lad. Lush Vlad
I don’t have a sub for The Athletic. But it looks like he has done a really open and honest interview about his mental health struggles early in his career. Never met the man. Although I was lucky enough to have a chat with his Dad. Who was dead sound, as you’d expect. Dan strikes me as one of the most genuine guys in football. Seems a ‘normal’ bloke and an absolute gent.
Monters
Met him a couple of times running on the sea front between Whitely Bay & Tynemouth a couple of summers ago... We were running similar pace and gradually got chatting, he came across as an incredibly grounded and top man, couldn't speak anymore highly of him.
