Matt Targett set to miss remainder of season with hamstring injury (Howe)

Recommended Posts

I keep reading that “we should sign him permanently” when I am about a billion percent certain his permanent signing was confirmed about two weeks after he joined on loan?

I know I don’t always have the firmest grasp on reality, but I’m pretty sure I’m not making that up…

EDIT So it seems the deal I’m thinking of was when the two clubs agreed a fee of £13.5m to make the deal permanent. Seems it’s such a no-brainer I concluded the deal in my mind…

He played some super quick forward passes down the line last night, which often was bolloxed up by ASM or Wood headed out or to nowhere. He’s calm, assured, disciplined and defensively switched on. For 15m he’d be a bargain. Again, SOLID.

I like him, I think he's an excellent option for us as we are currently. Decent touch, good enough positionally and tends to make the right decision. Exactly what we need, not some French Billy Big Bollocks on 8 times the wedge using us as a stepping stone to a vacuum.

our most important january signing (imho).

think howe could have got lascelle playing better as he has with joelinton, schar and krafth.

we were badly struggling at LB though.

Trippier without a shadow of doubt.

For all the clamour of us spending £93m I think him and Burn have had the most sustained impact. There's a lot to be said for having a good solid pro that gives you consistency and doesn't take needless risks. I'm also consistently impressed when he gets a chance to cross from open play.

He's not perfect (who is) but it would take a very good defender to take his place.

He never gives less than everything. He’s got that James Milner attitude of giving the best he possibly can every game even if he’s not the most gifted player technically. Really like him and I’m sure he’ll be here next season

I’m glad he’s come good. I always felt he would be a good signing tbh, had no doubt he would be a huge upgrade on what we had. It’s not silly to say that without him on the left and instead continuing with Ritchie or Dummett, we would be looking at a very different situation

One regular weakness I’ve noticed is when a winger turns inside he seems very flat footed with his positioning.

But recovers well still…
