Dial back to 1950 and there was no bigger club than Sunderland. In attendaces, success, wealth, even glamour, few clubs could match them (probably only Everton, Villa and Arsenal). That was then. Sunderland retain their (now ancient) history, but the only other element that suggests they are 'big' is their local support base. Right now they are minnows struggling to compete with Rotherham.

Grooming friends, marra!

Team booed off the pitch for the 1000th time in a decade, obviously the mags and the magedia's fault.

And I suppose every time the boos rang round when the players took a knee, it wasn't because they're a bunch of Neanderthal intolerant racists, it was because someone in one of the stands was on their phone looking at as photo of Jimmy Hill?

Even the 1950's is generous.

Last trophy was mid 30s. Relegated in 58, 3rd bottom in 57 and 15th in the second division in 59 and 16th the following season.

We had bigger attendances the vast majority of the time and when we didn't it was by 1k and won the cup three times that decae.  Man United and Wolves winnning the league 3 times in the 50s have decent cause for complaint too.

Even the official club statement sounds bitter as fuck, must be something in their water. Nee thanks for finally getting us out of League 1 after 5 years just that he knocked back a new offer. Was half expecting an #FTM at the end
