Their style of trying to soak up pressure and hit teams on the break actually suits a PL relegation season. They wouldn't stay up like, but it tends to be the teams who come up and actually try to play football that end up looking completely abject.

That's the first time I've watched them since we played them in the cup and my flabber is gasted by how woeful the level of football was between two of the leagues better teams.

 

I'm raging at Coventry for being so incompetent, to be honest they done themselves a favour by not getting promoted, they'd be lucky to reach double figures in the PL.

 

To any Geordie going to bed gutted that they won, think about how you feel now and now try to imagine how they were feeling when we got taken over, qualified for CL and won the LC.

Now I didn't watch or follow the games but by accounts it was a Coventry error late in the first game and this game was seconds away from the lottery of a penalty shoot-out after Coventry were on top for most of it. That's not getting tactics spot on by any measure. Nobody plans to sail that close to the wind against a team they were favourites to beat.

Just finished watching the reply on CBS. Great game, the usual back and forth. Seemed to me Sunderland bottled it until the 122 minute goal. Hats off to Coventry who fought like crazy. Sunderland fans were the epitome of destroyed emotionally when Coventry took the lead.

I think Sheffield Utd are better but Mackems aren't an awful team. Their defence is reasonable (for Championship level). If Sheff Utd score early it's game over but they can definitely nibble through. Going to be an interesting game.
