Linked with Joe Gomez for £30m.

Apparently would be a ‘statement signing’.

Whilst he’s far, far better than anyone they currently have, signing players approaching 30, with a questionable injury history, from bigger clubs, is supposed to be something they’ve moved away from…

Whereas if we'd signed him it would have been "he's fucking shite, richest club in the world hahaha, FTM"

Wijnaldum Was one of the all no time great threads on there. Went from top class unreal signing to utter shit and will be a total failure. If I remember there was nearly a couple of hundred pages. The change in attitude was great 🤣

Was watching Sky Sports PL Years last night and had me thinking about the amount of Man Utd players who ended up at Sunderland, was way more than I thought

Like a nursing home for players managed by Sir Alex

To be fair if they sign a 28 year old fullback with 15 senior England caps they've every right to be pleased. He'll immediately be their best player and will have resale value if/when they plummet out of the league in 12 months time.

It's a good signing, if it happens.

Wtf is wrong with them?

"I live in South Shields and have definitely seen a lot more lads tops kicking around since promotion."

They really do refer to themselves as 'lads'? They're more derranged than I thought.

It's not just the imbeciles on RTG either.  As far back as the '80s, on the back page of their programmes, they had "The Lads" above their team line up instead of Sunderland :icon_puke_l:

Sold out all their Season "Cards" I see.

I expect it'll be a bit awkward for all the bandwagon jumpers who've had to buy newly released seats in the Upper Tier as it was closed down for their PL exile.

Nowt like advertising the fact that you are indeed only there for the Premier League and to watch the opposition

In a bar on holiday last night and the bloke who runs the pub quiz (Jimmy the fish), who as the name refers to is a Grimsby fan. He was talking to some Charlton fans about that play off game they had with Sunderland back in the 90s and Clive Mendonca who scored a hat trick against his hometown club. I was telling them how much I laughed at the outcome of that game.  Then they reminded me how Charlton beat them in the league one play off final too and I laughed some more. The Grimsby fan was saying Mendonca was a legend while he was there but works at Nissan these days. Funny how things turn out. Sunderland aside we dug out some football memories like how we'd regularly be in the same 2nd division as Grimsby. Jim Dobbin scoring to beat us at SJP and end the winning run of 92/93 then us winning promotion at Blundell park. I could remember the bearded goalkeeper they had in the 80s, Nigel Batch, round about the time of the Yorkshire ripper case. I was saying how we would sing "There's only one Peter Sutcliffe" and he said one of the local press photographers had a similar appearance and he reckons the toon fans spotted this and went on to sing "There's only two Peter Sutcliffes". The good old days ☺

The really do think some of their players are "all that" I am pretty sure O'Nien will be on toast most weeks. A few red cards incoming for him. That Hume the times I have seen him has looked half decent to be fair, think he could go on to be a decent PL player but you'd swear blind he was the next Roberto Carlos.

O’Nien screams a VAR red in first two games, same for Ballard. They are a donkey team where reality will hit hard and the boos after 10 games and half empty stadium will be very funny.

Who’s signing Gomez if they go down? :D Reason he would be going to Sunderland in first place is because no-one wants him for fee and wage.
