So maybe they could go for names with historical significance, Monkwearmouth north of the river and Bishopwearmouth on the south side. Not the catchiest examples but might help with the optics and to compete for visitors with, say Morecombe Bay, which is larger population-wise but not a city obviously so they have that to sell as well.
