NUFCDoog
Fair play to them like, and they've got every right to be excited, yeah the signings might not work but they're signing players for good money and strengthening their squad. They're going to be excited given whats happened the last few years. It's sickening obviously and I hope they plummet straight back down, but there's a feel good atmosphere around the club, they've made some signings that if they work out will surprise teams next season. Their start is favourable, with all the above I can definitely see them pick up a fair few points in the first month or two then who knows where that momentum takes them? Said all along, I think they'll stay up. Fairly comfortably as well, as in not in the battle towards end of season, not saying theyll finish top half or anything. OpenC
It's a brutal league to try to blood mid level unknown quantities from lower tier European sides like, I'm not sure where this optimism for them is coming from.

They were about 25 points from second place, scraped through the play-offs with 2 jammy extra-time goals and promptly sold their 2 best players, replacing them with unproven unknowns. If you had to grow relegation in a laboratory, that's how you would do it. Edited July 5, 2025 by bhoywhonder
Fenham Mag
I’m delighted they’re making these signings and giving them some hope. As they say, it’s the hope that kills you and they’re going to be mightily disappointed when realisation comes crashing home. The best signing from the promoted teams is Kyle Walker by far, he can be Burnley’s trippier in terms of leadership and experience, Sunderland’s signings are risky as fuck. Andy84
Feel the league has moved on light years since 2015-2016. It’s going to be fun to watch and reality will bite for these very quickly. Probably when West Ham low block them and nick a win first game Edited July 5, 2025 by Andy84
Elric
Given that a lot of them wanted Reygis sacked before he somehow managed to scrape them through the playoffs, I wonder how quickly they'll turn on him after a run of bad results

The pub literally next door is decent enough and you can pop out at the interval as well. We had a pizza fairly close by; couldn’t tell you the name; it was ok. If you’re parking at the multi storey and walk to the Empire passed the church, there’s an Indian on your right. It looked busy; I’d suggest ringing any place in advance. If you are parking at the multi storey, leave the theatre as soon as you can and try and park on the ground level.

Nine
They’re making the exact sort of signings you might expect them to, very Burnley of last season. Good luck to them. Edited July 5, 2025 by Nine
junkhead
I'm sad enough to keep an eye on them, especially when they're losing.. last season the Championship was probably the worst quality that I remember. The mackems really were awful for 2/3 of the season, regularly having under 5 shots on target and everything. So far, they bought some exciting players - the Brugge lad is very skillful and sharp. Habib Diarra is a very identical player to Longstaff, but aye.. probably better.. box to box midfielder that makes similar runs in the right channel and often finds himself in scoring positions. The other lad Sadiki, I haven't seen, but he's probably better than Dan fucking Neil. So they just might generate enough momentum for a strong start but I'm sure it won't last. In general, they lack leadership and experience, so I doubt adding more foreign youngsters to a squad full of players who can't even speak english is a good strategy. Don't rate their manager either.. awful, defensive football, zero attacking intent even against the championship strugglers. I'm expecting the Dreyfus kid to sell them soon, I think that was his whole business plan but I doubt he was expecting them to go up so soon. I was hoping they'd rot in the FL forever, but It'll be entertaining to see the stadium of shite getting more empty with every passing week in the PL Edited July 5, 2025 by junkhead
