SteV
Spurs looking good to go through against Juve now. Apart from the fact that makes organising our game against them a right pain in the arse, it might well help us if they’ve got, say semi finals of the CL and FA cup, and our game just slips in somewhere in between, and for them could be a lower priority. Probably thinking too far ahead, but it would be nice if that was the case.

morla84
From .com When our game would then take place is tricky to call, with possible FA Cup commitments for Spurs added to restrictions on home stadium use even if they aren't in the last four of the competition. The FA Cup semi-finals are Wembley on 21st & 22nd April and it's unclear whether preparations for those ties would allow Spurs to play a home PL game after hosting Manchester City there over the weekend of the 14th. And should they progress in the Champions League against Juventus at Wembley on Wednesday 7th March - it's 2-2 after the first leg - then Spurs would be in midweek CL action again on 3rd/4th & 10/11th April. Jesus if they can’t play the midweek before the semi finals it really will be the end of the season.
54
Oh god, Imagine if we're in the relegation zone and have to beat Spurs after the season has ended for everyone else in order to stay up. That said, it'd probably be worse for the team we could hypothetically overtake.
54
If the game does get postponed, it'll also mean that we won't have a game for 3 weeks.
sbnufc
The FA Cup semi finals are on the weekend 21st April, Spurs are scheduled to play Brighton away on the 21st. They're gonna have to find another date for that game, after already having to find a date to play us.
Figures 1-0 Football
Not a chance the game would be played after the end of the season, unless there was nothing riding on it (which is unlikely).

I've got to the April 21 weekend so far and there's no where that I can see to fit our game in between now and then. It might have to be after the season edit: April 24th would work if Spurs go out of the CL May 8th if they somehow get to the CL final. Then they'd surely have to play Brighton after the season though
Figures 1-0 Football
Could we not just play them on the Wednesday before we are scheduled to play them? The 14th March? Edit - Actually it’s a CL gameweek and Uefa kick off about top flight games during European weeks? Or is it just televised top flight games? I’m sure a bit of common sense could prevail though and allow us to play.
sbnufc
Thought bringing the game forward would have been out of the question. No idea why though Spurs could request their FA Cup game be on the monday night, then play us on like Wed 14th like you suggest though. Sunday v Bournemouth, Wednesday v Newcastle.. break til Monday in their FA cup

No idea why though Spurs could request their FA Cup game be on the monday night, then play us on like Wed 14th like you suggest though. Sunday v Bournemouth, Wednesday v Newcastle.. break til Monday in their FA cup No reason why they shouldn’t just keep our game on the Friday night and then play the FA Cup game on either the Sunday or Monday. If being in too many competitions is too much for them then they should just concede defeat in 1 of them. The fixture congestion is less damaging to them then us. If they lose due to the fixture congestion then they go out of a cup, if we lose then we could go out of the Premier League.
xLiaaamx
Aye. Simply tell them they're going to have play 3 or 4 times in a week. They wanted to use the National Stadium, this is the price they pay.

They wanted to use the National Stadium, this is the price they pay. I don’t think our game should be moved when they could easily play another games later that weekend, it’s not ideal but no other alternative date will be ideal. Why should we have to be the ones who move our game to accomadate their fixture clash? At the end of that weekend they have an international break, so there is more time for them to recover then there would be at any other part of the season that remains. Even if we do have to accommodate their fixture clash, why do we have to accolades it at a more inconvenient time just so they can use Wembley? Why can’t they use the MK Dons stadium like they were going to If Wembley said no? Why can’t they just settle for us hosting the fixture instead, sure we get an extra home game, but again why should we have to suffer the consequence of their fixture clash? If none of these scenario’s are suitable to them then concede the FA Cup tie, or concede our tie and we can have the 3-0 win.

ponsaelius
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Newcastle_United_F.C._seasons Looking at this and top scorer statistics, we could be on for our lowest top scorer in the entire history of the club. 7 goals in 1892-93 (a 10 game Northern League season), 1980-81, 1997-98 and 2000-01 is the current joint record. You'd not fancy any of our current lot to reach that (Joselu and Perez are both on 4 at the moment).

Ashley17
I watched quite a bit of the 97/98 season the other night as my Grandad would record just about everything we were on. The absolute pinnacle is the Champions League qualifier in Zagreb, which was live on Channel 5 with Jonathan Pearce. Steve Howey is a pleasant chap: But also, how ridiculous is this goal from John Barnes?
Guest Howaythetoon
Barnes was very good for us I thought. Rush on the other hand... just shows how the wrong appointment can totally ruin things, sadly we’ve suffered it with Dalglish, Souness and then Pardew all ruining a good thing. Dalglish and Souness without a doubt ruined a good thing. Slightly different with Pardew in that he just failed to correctly use a good thing imo. That 12/13 squad, man. Easily the best post SBR.
