Newcastle Fan Posted Monday at 22:20 Share Posted Monday at 22:20 Good performance but i would still start Dubravka in the final.

andycap Posted Monday at 22:31 Share Posted Monday at 22:31 That sweeper alertness could be invaluable for us in the final. Can save goal scoring opportunities just by the positions he takes up when defenders are caught out over the top.

Dubravka stuck on his line would be disastrous. Pope in goal all day for me.

It's swings and roundabouts, Dubs lacks in some areas compares to Pope, but I think Pope's feet will be the decider. The pressure Pope would invite when they press would be unbearable. El Prontonise Posted Monday at 23:12 Share Posted Monday at 23:12 Pope definitely looked more assured on crosses etc today, but he was awful with his feet as usual.
Cf Posted Monday at 23:14 Share Posted Monday at 23:14 Just now, El Prontonise said: Pope definitely looked more assured on crosses etc today, but he was awful with his feet as usual. I was out so only caught the end of the game. The bits I saw he was absolutely terrifying me. Was a corner he just ran into a group of players nowhere near the ball and just other general flapping around.

CPL Posted Monday at 23:17 Share Posted Monday at 23:17 For the style that Liverpool play, Pope would probably be better as he is more assured at sweeping up when they will look for balls over the top.
andycap Posted yesterday at 02:58 Share Posted yesterday at 02:58 He humped every ball away that's all that matters. I don't mind that he's shite with his feet as long as he gets rid. Keep it simple when he tries to be a ball playing keeper he gets himself into bother.

Yeah but there is a Pope = bad narrative on the go. He was solid yesterday. But didn't have to make a challenging save, which has been his issue. Usual misplaced kicks too into touch. But he didn't drop a clanger with his feet. Edited yesterday at 06:09 by David Edgar
Sibierski Posted yesterday at 06:24 Share Posted yesterday at 06:24 For what he was asked, sweeping and crosses, he was good. What we want. Issue, he spooned the ball into touch many times and didn’t have to make any low saves. Think I would start him on Sunday for the crosses element, and just hope we don’t allow easy long distance efforts, as one will go in.

Lush Vlad
He was fine (by his standards) on his right. They weren’t pressing high. So he usually got it somewhere near an NUFC player or just moved it on to Burn or Schar. But FFS. When we pass it back to him on his left

Mattoon
Now that was a first choice keeper performance. His insistence on sweeping will be invaluable against a Liverpool side that love a long ball over the back for Salah to run onto
Bellis80
It’s interesting people think he’ll be better coming for balls over the top to Salah when the last time he did it he got sent off.

SEMTEX
Thought he was good, myself. Was confident/committed when the ball was looping into the box. Probably more aggressive than was necessary some times, but I'll take it.
