Now That's What I Call Transfer Rumours! 7

Are we not a system team? High coordinated press, get ball forward quickly, left back tucking in and making back three, right back moving upfield to make additional wide player, right wide player interchanging with right back to get in crosses or a shot off at goal. Not sure how compatible RB Leipzig’s system is with ours as not really watched them other than one CL match against City but if I recall correctly they had the same high press and energy.

I was gonna say this too. How many of our players have value now because they've fit well into this system that gets the best out of them when in reality a fair few of them are actually very average (at best) players?

I think they have value because although they fit into a system that work for them. They are also finally in a system. Instead of crossing fingers and hoping for the best when under bacon

Yeah we are, I just think a lot of their players struggle outside of that specific RB system, there are outliers of course it just increases the risk factor, added to the fact no one can defend it inflates attacking numbers.

I’ve legit never watched this guy though, so I don’t know if he’s good.

He is technically brilliant - got all the tools - physically built too which EH loves - speaks English - captain of Hungary at 22

Let EH and his team get hold of him

and they will coach him into an elite player - he’ll be our KDB/Odegaard - might not reach those levels but we don’t have anyone like him - adds a dimension to our team

Aye, can't see anything major happening till after all the European finals and internationals are out the way.

Think we will be working hard to get players in as soon as possible. We will need to act quicker for some targets. The above will hinder for sure.

Dahoud is another FIFA star, nearly all of my team are in the Prem now. Sadly it’s my brother who scouts them for us, I just give the Ashworth nod

Kudus hasn’t arrived yet mind.

What is the issue with Red Bull players?

From what I’m aware having listened to Leeds and So’ton fans who’ve been RB managed to a certain degree, and this could be wrong, they’re relatively rigid in the way they’ve been taught play.  Funnel the ball central, 4-2-2-2 etc.

Given, as ponso has posted, the low hit rate for high cost makes me worry further beyond further worries about Bundesliga football players in general who although technically gifted seem to struggle with football that isn’t wide open.

Szoboszlai just feels like one of our signings. Physically, tactically, age, seems to check every box. It seems inevitable. From what I've seen, I'd prefer him to Maddison although I will absolutely support whatever the club's decision ends up being.

I prefer the hungarian but I'm not sure we are in a position to gamble away 70m of our transfer funds on a player from RB, no matter how good he does look.

I'll take Tierney, Maddison and a proven CB like Pavard. Then we can look at free transfers and loans to fill out the squad and provide cover at CB and CM, maybe even a young winger for competition, a proven RB on loan to cover tripps and we can send Ashby on loan with option to recall. 3rd choice CF and a backup GK if dubravka leaves. Maybe 4-5 transfers for money. 1-2 free transfers and a further 1-2 loans of experienced players, preferable at 3rd CF and backup RB, id even be fine going the loan route for a backup GK. That leaves LB, CB, 2 CMs and a winger. Very do-able with 150m and 1-2 players in on a free. I find it terrifying that we could have our biggest season in club history approaching and spend 70m on one 22 year old player from RBL hahaha. I'd welcome him and be hype for it but its fucking scary to think what the consequences would be...

I really want us to swing on young talented players from random leagues but with 150m to spend I think we need to be extremely careful on spending on players who will need time to adjust to a new league, players who are super young or play in a team with a unique system etc. Maybe 1 or 2 of those guys is fine. For 10-15m and another on a free. But 70m on Szo would be irresponsible use of our funds imo.

Dominic Szoboszlai is 1.86m tall. Newcastle will have the highest team in the world if they keep this up. Just imagine with Kim (1.90m) and Kephrem Thruam (1.92m).

He's a handsome fucker too, has a bit of Schär about him, we could be the tallest and fittest team in the world potentially.
