The World Cup next summer will make it very tough for teams to buy players in that window

This. So many reasons why this isn't a good idea which have already been mentioned. If clubs want to do their business before the season starts then there's nothing stopping them as it is.

World Cup Quarter Finals are July 6th next summer, for most top players it's effectively going to be a month long. Window ends August 9th. I just don't get the benefit of this one bit.

Also a lot of PL clubs transfer dealings are dependent on what happens abroad. ENGClubA might want so sign someone from ITAClubA, but first ITAClubA want to sign a replacement from SPAClubA or ITAClubB for example, or vice versa. Those two clubs don't want to sell just yet because they'd be left short so look to buy from PORClubA or FRAClubA, and so on. They're in absolutely no rush to do their dealings and rightly don't give a shit that EngClubA have to sign their player before August 9th when they have a couple of more weeks to negotiate and plan themselves.

It's just tying one hand behind our back for no reason.

Season ends>window opens for 2 weeks then closes for business in&out>Season tickets go on sale along with shirts and numbering>pre-season>season starts.

That is how it should work. The fact we currently pay for season tickets in February not knowing what division or players we are watching and people are buying strips not knowing what players and numbers are available are just some of the basic things wrong with the current system.

Pretty sure it'd be against some sort of law that someone could only change employer in a 14-day period.

On that basis though, it should surely be against the law for any time period where you can't change employer. And they can change employer, they could go an drive a bus or wash some windows. I doubt there is any law that forces employers to hire in "aceeptable" periods.

Former Sutton United goalkeeper Wayne Shaw has been fined £375 and banned for two months for breaching FA betting rules.

Yet John Terry gets away with it despite people betting on him leaving the pitch at a particular time and him and the club admitted to it being pre planned ?

That transfer window idea is utter sh.ite in reality.  Absolutely nowt would change for us with the fear of a few being sold just hanging that bit longer with no sweetener to fall back on in a purchase.

Just get the whole of Europe to start their seasons on the same weekend and close the window both in and out a couple of days before.  The Winter window just plainly for the whole of January.

Surely a Summer window open from the end of May until the middle of August is long enough without adding to the confusion with geographical differences.  Maybe something for FIFA to impose?

Allardyce was on The Debate yesterday saying he'd spoken to a few managers and it was mainly the owners who were agreeing to this. Maybe they should extend it to managers too. Once the season starts, that's it. No sackings or managerial changes until January.

Just remove the window, but then what will all those agents do, what will Sky Sports and Co do when their biggest money making is removed. Oh noes.

I would be well up for that if I didn't think back through our team's managerial history.

They'll do it all season long, which is why they put the window in in the first place.

But the spectacle is gone. You can sign someone whenever, and there's none of that inflated transfer deadline price shit.

This Premier League Show is a bit grim. Just more of the same bollocks; labeling X team, Y player and Z manager 'temporary', whilst the sweaty Champions League club mits linger above. Stop bloody perpetuating it ffs.

That wouldn't stand legally.  The reason that they can get away with the transfer window is that it's not the employment of the player that's restricted, it's the transfer of their registration.  Any player is quite free to leave their club, paying whatever compensation is necessary to fulfil their contract, and sign a contract with another club but they won't be able to play in FA sanctioned competitions until their registration has been transferred which is dependent on the 'selling' club agreeing.  When you say 'Bolton paid £5m for Mugshot McMonkfish' you're really saying they paid £5m for the transfer of his registration.
