João Pedro - Chelsea Agree Deal With Brighton (Ornstein)

Genuinely is a feeder club model. If I was a fan of Brighton I’d be absolutely sick to fuck of it. Who cares about making money if you’re not actually seeing gains season after season. The only way to succeed as a club is to have a fair amount of stability in the squad. It’s not possible to win things if you sell your best players every year or two. Fucking joke of a club the way it’s basically just a financial game to Bloom

I guess the argument though, and I do seem to be picking on your posts tonight , is that if they're able to make this much money from this model then it implies we should also be able to get this quality of player in on a smaller budget.

I get the need for short termism given the demands next season but there's something to be said for bringing in the cheaper player who we'll develop.

Our most recent examples are Hall and Livramento but we paid too dollar for them.

Can see the attraction, young player gets to move back to London, earn a lot more money and if worst comes to worst he can leave in 12 months with 6 years of increased payments from a club he's no longer attached to.

The chance to sign him has fallen by the way side twice now like with Ekitike, on to the next one

I’m not hammering their efforts in signing players, they’re amazing at it, the best. I’m hammering the fact that they’ve now built such a sustainable model that they could actually try and build towards winning things and being a CL contender regularly but nah, why do that when you can get on your knees and put Todd’s sagging balls in your mouth?

Rumours abound a personal intervention from Graham Rix got it over the line.

With a packet of sweets

and a cheeky smile

Rixy is a fucking ……..

Remember our fans singing that randomly on the super tram when we beat Sheff Wed 2-0 back in 1999. Think it was the day Shearer announced he was retiring from international football after Euro 2000.

I'm looking at it this way, we didn't get Ekitike, we went and got Isak.

We didn't get Pedro, we went and got ???????

Prefer it that way, keeps me happy.

DCL or Wilson

Well i'm being at bit more expansive than that, i'm thinking a nice player who can play both wide and up top.

As yet unnamed, but i don't doubt we'll have someone lined up.

Meh, I convinced myself he'd be good for us, but in all honesty he doesn't look like a £60m player to me.  I know the market is crazy, but surely there is better value to be had elsewhere

Decent player, no doubt but not top, top level and has dick-like tendencies. Not that disappointed tbh

Aye he’s clearly talented but part of me thinks we’ve dodged a bullet.

Not too arsed about this one, but fucking hell it's grating how Chelsea can just crack on and do as they please by bending the rules completely while we're absolutely hamstrung by the same ones.

Mate is a die hard Brighton fan and even before the Chelsea link he was saying Pedro isn’t even a top 3 player at Brighton. He’s great as a second striker and creating space but isn’t really clinical himself.

Don’t think he really be a miss at Brighton

I don’t get the hype. Didn’t get at Watford and don’t get it after his spell at Brighton. He’s not that good.

I get they’ll pay more and obviously 99% of footballers would rather live in London but for, in theory, the most powerful owners in world football we haven’t half been lightweights for quite some time.

Always felt sorry for Rix, he was unfortunate

Just know either it’ll really shake up at some point and we’ll really be able to go for it or it’ll end in disaster for chelsea because there’s only so many hotels you can sell

He’s very good in linking play, excellent ball carrier, dynamic in changing positions and has fairly good feet. Just not good in front of goal. If he could improve that aspect of his game he’d be an amazing player, he’s shite at finding a yard and making the right decision for someone with such good technique. I think he’s made a terrible decision as Howe is probably among the very few coaches that you could get on transforming his game. However, who cares, he’s made his decision. We’ll move on

The long contract thing they do is like an extra thing to ensure you always get your man. No one will turn down 7 years on Premier League money.

If you havnt noticed Howes ability at improving players and getting the absolute best out of them then I don’t know what to tell you.

JP is a very good player already with a skill set that doesn’t grow on trees, and would have been even better here.

Howe is amazing but what the fuck is that got to do with my view of Pedro as a player?
