eScouser at work spent all summer crowing about how great their recruitment was, how they never missed because it was all so data driven etc. Annoyed me no end about how he went on about Isak too.

Been fun to see them fail so hard this season. I told him at the time that letting TAA go in his prime but re-signing mid-30s VVD and Salah seemed like a disaster waiting to happen but "the data" was wheeled out again and of course he couldn't see how a negative outcome could ever arise.

He's been 100% working from home for the past month. I'm sure that's just a coincidence.

I still think Isak is a fantastic player, but as others have alluded to he has to play in a team set a certain way. He's not a grafter. He's a selfish poacher, a finisher. Yes he can dribble a bit and create space but generally he needs good service, for a team to look to play him in all the time. He's great as a big fish in a small pond, bu he's floundering about now he's surrounded by others who don't (and won't) see him as the main man.

Just had a look on a Liverpool forum.  It was beautiful.

"Another game where you wouldn't know he's there."

"reminds me of a dud firework"

"an almost criminal waste of 130 million."

"Should have left Isak at Newcastle and given Diaz a new contract instead."

"Should have bought GOATemade instead."

"Early days but he looks an absolute waste of money."

"I think Wirtz and Isak absolutely ARE the problem.

Overrated pieces of trash.

We've blown it big time with these two."

"What a massive waste of money.

Newcastle have screwed us over, just like with Andy Carroll.

Disaster of a signing."

I watched their game today. Isak isn't playing well but he doesn't get any service really. Gakpo and Salah never cross the ball. Always cutting inside.

That’s the big problem for them. Isak’s movement is truly outstanding, particularly when you couple it up with his close control. He can have defenders on strings.

They’ve signed him to be an out-and-out striker though. He’s not a bad finisher, but he’s not the sort of player who can get off a good shot in a packed 18 yard box, or will always be there to collect the scraps if a keeper spills it. He needs to be playing off the shoulder of the last man.

I still refuse to believe he can carry on being this bad. But a lot of things at play here.

Maybe his injuries really have caught up with him and he has lost his agility and pace. He’s never been one that could manage an intense 90 minutes anyway. 60-70 at most.

Maybe he has lost all his hunger and drive

now he’s made it and got to a big club and huge payday. Certainly looks more and more like he downed tools for us after the final. Must be quite hard to turn it off for so long, go on strike and miss pre-season. Then try and just turn it back on again.

Finally, it is also becoming more apparent. That our style and players suited him down to the ground. Fast breaks, direct attacks, wingers who were always trying to find him, midfielders and defenders wanting to find him early and in space.

Now he is playing in some slow build up shite, he isn’t the main man, his skillset doesn’t suit and he’s a big part of why they look so disjointed. Well, that and because Slot has been serving up slop for a while now.

I think I like these two the best - I love how they somehow think 'we' screwed them over as well, like we'd persuaded them to tap Isak up, turn the player's head, encourage the player to go on strike and then lowball us for a player who we'd had scoring well for us.

Liverpool fans changing the narrative again.

This time it’s that Isak forced a move that Liverpool didn’t want.

What kind of daft moron would you have to be to concoct that preposterous theory? Who the fuck would pay a British transfer record for a player they didn't want. Whomever said that may have been dropped on the head by their mum by accident as an infant.

There is no end to the propaganda and rewriting of history scousers will do if the truth makes them look bad.

One commenter pointing out that Liverpool are committed to paying him £280,000/week, which equates to £14.56 million per year, for six years.

So, £87.36 million in wages on top of the £125 million or £130 million transfer fee.
