It's quite a gamble on their part though. If you are Isak, you are feeling quite twitchy about them playing such a game.

What kind of team lets a star player leave at the end of a transfer window with no possible replacement? It's not a dangerous game, it's Russian roulette with 6 full chambers.

(1) If Liverpool don't give us our number, he stays and is reintegrated - probably with a new contract with a release clause and a statement.

(2) If Liverpool give us our figure. He may end up staying if we can't land a proper replacement (eg not just Wissa, we need someone else). We might panic into a Jackson at £60m but I doubt it.

(3) If Liverpool get us our figure and we get a replacement, he goes.

I think 2 is most likely. Liverpool get us the figure but we don't land a replacement and keep him, or panic into a replacement.

NO NO NO NO NO NO!!! We have to make a stand. Id rather he played for the reserves than we get stonewalled into selling him. Fuck the money, it's the principle of the thing. Liverpool are bullies and I hate bullies.

Anyway, I'm pretty confident that he'll continue to play and score goals for another year as he won't want his stock to fall.

Contracts are signed for a reason and he has 3 years left on his.

its not 130 + add ons, as ive said throughout this, its 130 upfront of 150 instalments + extras.

Really dont care if he has tried to force a move through. If hes lucky he has 11 years left in his career. If he stays here thats at least 2 he cant win a league or Champions league on a wage probably 300% below what he can earn. If he stays, knuckles down and gives 100% its only to our benefit. He will go next summer as planned, most probably abroad as planned and we have a year to get the right guy lined up and signed on a pre-contract.

We are in a no lose situation. Players will always want to move on, its their job, time we started seeing it that way and too the emotion out of it

We have no reason to. I've always though they'd have to get somewhere near £150 million, even if we're talking total package.

What are you basing that on?

When you look at prices players have moved for in the last year or two, what strikers are going for and the prices that are being quoted for them. Why would we fold at £120m?

I think they will try again at some point with say £130m and some easy enough to achieve add ons. But even then I don’t think that is enough. Based on the above and what he is worth to us.

Maybe Liverpool need to think again.

Load of shite. Liverpos own words were along the lines of "we will not be submitting another bid because of how quick the offer was rebuffed". We're not gonna tell them to swivel if they're only a few million away.

Liverpool could be regularly talking to Isak for all we know, with a promise to come back in nearer end of window.

And with no time to find an alternative we tell them to do one. See you next year when we’ll sell abroad!

This is straight-up Liverpool spin intended for Isak and his camp.

"Really sorry we've left you in the lurch like this, Alex, but we were positive Newcastle would accept the 110 million. Honestly we were. This idea that we led you on in hope of getting a bargain deal -- no truth to that at all."

I’m not sure why there would be a minutes silence given that there was one yesterday and there will be one at Anfield for their first home game. Surely they won’t be doing it throughout the season?

I’m not either, just thought it had been discussed earlier and there was going to be some flag for him.

probably just me and my early-onset dementia

What a load of crap. Given we have no replacements even if we did sell, everyone would be adding 20 Mil onto whomever we tried to buy.

IMO this cant happen this window without being royally shafted by all and sundry.

If there was a club abroad interested in buying him I'd consider it after all this drama. However,  I just can't stomach selling to Liverpool, particularly as it sets a terrible precedent going forward.

I do accept the idea of him playing again for us feels remote as things stand, but things can change very quickly in football, just look at the MGW saga at Forest.

Isak may soon realise this move won't happen this summer and subsequently pivot to signing a new contract. Cue some club PR with him smiling and shaking hands with Eddie, and when he's banging the goals in for us again in this season, I'd think the majority of the fanbase would also quickly pivot to tolerating him for another season

After all of this what are people thoughts on the Jota thing. I thought we were doing a minutes silence of something?

Easy for me to say as I won’t be there but I’m all for ignoring it, not actively going against it, just ignoring it.

Not sure if they’re expecting a minutes silence tour of the country but after all of this they can get to fuck. Self-righteous cunts.

Fuck. That.

No I can fully imagine Liverpool expecting a minutes silence at every ground they visit this season.

Isak coming back into the fold is like a husband or wife taking their partner back after they've been caught having an affair

It might be civil for a while and the cheating partner will probably buy lots of presents to say sorry and all that, but there'll always be that niggling doubt that when they say they're working late they're actually in a Premier Inn doing the nasty

So if he stays, we need to make sure his goals move the club forward and then ship him off to a European side for mega-bunce next summer, like the skanky little homewrecker he is
