We didn't buckle. If there was no PSR, we would have happily kept him against his wishes, but we sold because we need the PSR headroom more than we need to make a point.

Liverpool and Isak's agent knew this and took advantage of our position.

You picked a pretty strange time to become unhappy then.

Aye, funny old world. Different people respond differently to different circumstances for different reasons I suppose

I don't know why people don't acknowledge this. If PIF were allowed to put their money into buying a £150m replacement and pay him 300k/week, then might well be we could just have held him to his contract and sat him on the bench for a year.

Shit, we could have paid Isak that £350k/week and he'd have probably signed another 6 year contract.

Even if we had great head room now we still need the sales until we up the revenues to compete.

For the avoidance of doubt the absolute truth of this post is the number one reason I lost interest. Top level football is hard to love in 2025

I'm really struggling to get enthused about any games this season. It's just become so fucking obvious that the entire framework for competition and governance exists to protect - and grow - the commercial revenue of cartel clubs

The network of economic/financial connections that owners like Boehley have in the national and international economies just further muddy the waters.

It's hard to invest in a game which you know is rigged to cap your achievements

Neither will fail sadly, both top class and Ekitike could be even better. Can see why we wanted him

We wanted him as we could play a 4-4-1-1, Liverpool can’t even do that as they’ve got Wirtz. So really only one can play at any time, unless they’re chasing a game and Slot is throwing multiple attackers on.

Isak I do believe you can make a genuine argument will be bit of a flop if he’s regularly coming off the bench. Don’t spend £125m for that. Why I want Liverpool to finally drop off, as it’s terrible squad building that shouldn’t be rewarded.

Wirtz, Ekitike and Isak cost them over £300m, they arguably only needed Ekitike.

Szobo is the perfect 10 for them. Their next signing should have been the successor to Salah and a genuine LW.

Would it be too controversial to think we have had the best of him ?

Our system suiting him perfectly & Dippers system cramping the space we were creating with our constant pressing & swift transitional play ?

Think there's a debate to be had personally, either way I just can't see him being as prolific for them as he was for us as an initial unknown quantity to being gifted a lot of goals / opportunities

Could be miles away but i'm not sure I am

I can see there being a bit of trouble with both him an Ekitike wanting to be seen as first choice and will be a headache to manage that but thinking Isak isn't going to score loads is pure cope I think :(

He will score no doubt, whether he gets the same amount is to be seen, he's going to really struggle to score from the bench & the way Ekiteke has started, not sure the answer to this but who would take the pens if Ratboy, Ekiteke & Salah were on the pitch ?
