Highly likely this is mostly agent driven and he's trying to get the best wage for his client by showing that Liverpool want our player and how much they are willing to pay him in wages and that he's clearly a top bracket player so we need to pay him accordingly.

The thing is the club don't have to do anything and could even keep him on his £100k or whatever he earns now.

Only risk is if Isak would then sulk for a year and play below his levels.

It is rather funny how the Liverpool lot are going on about Isak after whinging like little babies for the past 6 months about TAA.

Not them though, course not them. They don't spend money either, remember? This is just the Coutinho money.

Aye I remember this. He was either ignorant to the rules or just being a prick.

He knows as well of all of us that no team will be allowed to upset the apple cart on a consistent basis like in 2004/2008 as the rules are designed to handcuff teams like Newcastle and Villa.

The fact we've finished in the Champions League spots 2 out of 3 years is testament to the coach we have. We've spent money but a drop in the ocean compared to these teams when you consider the squads they already had at the point of the takeover.

I love the way we've had success over the past few years and wouldn't change a thing, but it would be pretty funny if we could be in for a £100m + player as often as we wanted. Easy to forget these fuckers bid £100m + for Caicedo on Klopp's watch too. Now this summer they can - quite easily without any worry about PSR - buy Wirtz for £100m + and also Isak for £120m + if they wanted. Some ceiling that.

I think this should be used as a watershed moment. Isak is fully entitled to feel he should be getting paid what he's worth, we should find some way to make that happen. If we really want to be No 1 as is PIF's repeated claim, then we need to pay No 1 wages. It's not like we've got a dozen of them on our books, we only need to pay the 2-3 who can really command it.

One of the reasons I refuse to think about Isak leaving is that he absolutely destroys their world class defence EVERY season.

I enjoy that so much I can't even get close to expressing it in words.

Hahahahahaha, what he's done is he has taken the expectation- that Newcastle fans would be upset- and he has subverted it masterfully, with Newcastle fans instead being grateful.
