It's a strange situation.

 

If he is genuinely injured, which I'm doubtful of, it makes very little sense to leave him at home. Unless of course the injury is much worse than is being reported.

 

If he is unsettled though, you'd think his agent would be briefing everyone and his dog.

 

Either way, we're three weeks away from the start of the campaign and ar present Osula is our only available striker. We can't have another week pass by with zero transfer activity.

If you see what the journalists were saying when Ekitike was unveiled last night (ability to play out wide and behind striker, Isak still an option, they're open to one or two moves still). No Jota, Diaz, Nunez, Chiesa, Elliott, Doak etc. They'll be after more. Rodrygo and Fofana heavily linked. We saw them overhaul their midfield 2 seasons ago (signing Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, Gravenberch, Endo) in one window. They might be doing the same with their attack.

 

I'd say he's on strike or pretty close to handing in a transfer request but just not done it officially to keep things amicable.

Both things can be true at the same time. The set of rules are in place to hold us and others back, while we've also done nothing to work around them. All of the things we've done are about working firmly within the rules and meeting them square on, and even then they've been limited - not enough player trading, sponsorships, or legal challenges.

 

Take for example a points hit - for your argument that taking a points hit would have ruined last season, the counter to that is the reason you get a points hit in the first pla e. Eg 'over' spending on players can negate that and/or you take the hit but the squad is now a title challenging one (for example) after the punishment is dealt with.

 

But the point is, for all we might do 'something' to lessen the impact of the rules (as opposed to nothing, as you put it (and which I disagree with)), the cartel clubs are still the greatest beneficiaries of the rules. The unfairness still exists regardless.

 

Take a points hit? Sorry like but it's absolutely deplorable that we should have to consider that whilst those clubs on the other side of the drawbridge continue all but risk-free. 

 

Do something, do nothing, it's still unfair and where the blame should be more-or-less entirely focused.

Yeah but Liverpool would have to sign both in one window for over £200m combined for that to happen. We'd have just had to have signed Ekitike for £80m there or thereabouts. 

 

I'd be amazed if Liverpool have enough PSR wiggle room to throw £140m+ on another player this window.

They have endless PSR wiggle room this summer, before any sales. The only debate is if the owners are prepared to spend the money or not, that seems very unlikely

I think @Shearergol already said they don't have to sell this window to get PSR room, they could do it in January/nex summer as well.

What do you think is happening? Its an NUFC forum, what are people going to talk about besides what's going at the club. Star striker linked with move away and who has apparently been told or feels he deserves a new contract is not going on our pre-season tour. Thats whats happening. Its enough to talk about. And what do you mean find out what's happening, like the club is going to come out and give a statement. 'He didn't go on tour because he wants a new contract or a move to a club that's signed some players this window.' He didn't play against Celtic, because of transfer speculation, according to Eddie. Now he's skipping the entire pre-season tour. It would appear his priority is no longer the team. Whether he stays or goes, I don't really care, more concerned with what it says about the lack of progression, which was obvious to everyone. Now some players are deciding that they've outgrown us, and we won't be able to catch up. Its a very bad look. Hopefully it causes someone in ownership to do something, because it hasn't been good enough for a couple seasons now.
