There's a chance we have flat out refused to sell and clubs know this, and a lot of this noise is agent driven to put on added pressure regarding an improved contract.

When they finally flog Nuñez, probably to one of our Saudi overlords and they turn up to our door flush with cash and could go beyond 150m (if that even is the figure we're holding out for) then we have a decision to make.

The way this summer has panned out, I wouldn't trust our custodians to decide what to have for breakfast let alone what to do.with the world's best striker.

This is what I’ve been saying. If Isak was on strike pending a move I feel like it would be a very specific move that had already been reported. Which it hasn’t been.

only Tonali comes close to justifying wanting some kind of parity with Isak on wages at the moment imo.

How would you fix it? I don't think a 200k/week contract is going to do it if Liverpool can offer 300k.

I thought it was reported that Yasir had already stepped in and said Isak wasn’t for sale? I guess not directly to the fans, but he seems to know what’s going on.

Not entirely but we shouldn’t even allow him to speak to Liverpool and we don’t have to absolutely match their offer. He must understand where we’re at and that there’s 3 years left on his deal.

Why didn't they put a bid in then? They were also only £30 million short of the fee most expect Newcastle to consider. Did they really need a bunch of sales first before offering that? Something weird about this whole thing.

No it’s not his fault.  There should be a larger strategy as to how we get to the top - and that doesn’t include primarily buying established PL players. 
 

The approach is wrong imo. I’ve always felt it’s wrong. But Howe shouldn’t determine the strategy and he’s not at fault for our financial limitations. PIF should be working faster to alleviate financial limitations and put in a structure to get Howe quality players.

They can "offer" what they like but he only gets it if we agree to sell him. He can't just walk out.

 

He's got three years left, yes we risk losing him for less if he doesn't sign a new deal but that isn't without risk for him either. What if he has a season plagued with injury and/or patchy form? Is he still walking into a £300k/week contract or will the big boys have a different shiny new toy to target? If he turns down an extra £100k/week here that's over £15m guaranteed he's leaving on the table, in the hope that both someone offers us what we want plus the massive salary he apparently wants.
