I think in the last week or so the Isak situation is likely why we’ve come to a standstill. We can’t really do anything until that’s resolved.

Think there might be something in that, Isak going changes our entire window.

I'm not siding with Isak, but if we are going to quote teams '£130m+' to sign him, essentially pricing him as the best player in the leauge, we can't turn around and get pissed off he/his agent feels that means he should get paid like one of the best players in the league.

I am not saying we shouldn't up his wages but come to some sort of agreement - increase them as much as possible and agree with him he can go next season.  There is a right and wrong way to go about things.

So thats another player we need on top of Wissa (if we get him)

We are going to go into this season criminally understaffed in terms of players.

Everything has caught up with the slowness of the club here.

The only other thing to consider is that we’ve been at a standstill seemingly for significant periods of the window

The club has made a complete and utter pigs ear of all of this

The lad should’ve been offered a new deal yonks ago - if anyone at the club was stupid enough to think ‘we’ve got him on a three year contract yet’, then hopefully they’re disabused.  If the lad is publicly wanting to go, that knocks tens of millions off the asking price

It is saying I want to be sold

That’s the natural inference to draw from it, and likely correct, especially in light of not going on the tour. I’m not trying to cope or anything, you’d just think if Hope had any basis for saying “Isak demanding move” or something like that, he would have run with it. It’s probably just an issue of Isak choosing not to use the nuclear option right out of the gate and leaving room to ratchet up. Fucking shit state of affairs any way you slice it.

He has three years left on his contract so we have the stronger hand to dictate the price.  Club just has to hold firm.

It's a delicate one though, as by forcing him to stay you run the risk of (a) affecting other players in the squad, and (b) putting off new signings who may see the club as a stepping stone.

We're also not really in a position squad-wise where we can afford to have the best striker in the league either refusing to play or going through the motions on the pitch.

I think he'll go for around £125m if an offer of that magnitude comes in.

I don’t blame him.

Would you stay at your company when you know a rival would offer 2-3x? Your company knows the your the man too. What have they been doing/thinking for the last 2 years?

He is not in IT man - and he's not exactly poorly paid.  If the club gave Isak £300k it would turn the heads of other players in the squad questioning their worth.

Maybe Isak has seen that yet another summer is going to pass us by without us making a significant improvement. The clubs a shitshow at boardroom level and he’s probably had enough especially with a new contract that he could get elsewhere being offered.

This fucking human bot is just reporting the other tweet. I'm sick of his shit.

So has he handed in a transfer request?, if so that is a few million more in the bank, if he is only "exploring" options then that should still count as a request, I'm getting a bit sick of these footballers trying to have it all ways.

I still think he’ll stay largely because I’m not sure who is paying up. But this suddenly feels in play:

Sell

Isak for £140m

Buy

Guehi £55m

Gallagher £40m

Trafford £35m

TBD striker £50-60m

LIVERPOOL!
