Everyone saying Sesko, didn't Arsenal walk away because his transfer cost + wages were too high?

And that's a cartel club

We've shown we won't bid above the market value of players / pay them craxy wages

We might not have a choice. Desperate for a striker now and we have 4 weeks to do a deal. It's utter fkn madness. Isak has done a number on us here.

This summer window is turning into a defining one for the club's leaders. We are seemingly a rudderless ship and we're about to crash into the iceberg. Someone had better get to the wheel quickly.

Isak owes us nothing, he is one of the best players in the world and deserves a club that matches those ambitions and crucially, has the capacity to compete, which we won't be able to build for years.

I hold no ill will against the guy. Yes, he's under contract and by rights should be with the team in Asia, but none of us complained when Gordon effectively went on strike at Everton to force a move here.

He's an elite athlete, his only loyalty is to his career and that's OK.

Having said that...anyone but Liverpool! (But it'll definitely be Liverpool)

He does like. If he'd been poor we'd have still owed him his salary and he'd have shouted loud and hard about what contracts mean if wed wanted to cut his pay accordingly. Gordons was slightly different given the way he was   chased and abused by Everton fans before any mention of a move.

Sadly, him openly wanting to leave means it's likely going to be for less than his value. In my mind it's becoming increasingly likely to be £120-30m to Liverpool. And for me, it will be another example of the corruption and anti-competitiveness of the Premier League, as we're backed into this corner in large part because we're simply unable to offer him the wages he deserves, even just for a year to appease him.

Not only are we not allowed to truly compete, but we're also unlikely to get full value for our players when we do come to selling as we don't come from a position of strength. I don't mind selling, but I do mind getting rinsed.

I would hope not, like. We might be rudderless but I'd hope we're not daft

For all of the talk of Liverpool interested, surprised they haven't got terms agreed yet with Isak. Like is the £300k even too much for them? Can move on Diaz etc. all they want for funds, but their wage bill will be shooting up this summer.

Salah / VVD on big new deals. Wirtz on a mega deal, Etitike on similar, then Isak would take just those three close to £1m pw.

Quansah and Kelleher would be neglible wages gone. TAA the only big one off the books. Diaz/Elliot would be like £100k between them. Transfer funds is one thing, wages are another when you are making multiple high end signings. Doesn't leave much wiggle room for future seasons.

I think they are leaking the 130m number to their legion of friendly journalists knowing its as high as they can go and it's below Isak's value.

Except PIF have been buying the castoffs of said 6.

Strengthening them financially.

Agreed that’s a joke as well, but selling to a rival is directly strengthening them and at £130 million when Chelsea were wanting £100 million for Jackson would be a piss take.

there is a reason why Newcastle players are targeted. last summer Gordon, this summer Isak, Livramento. there were talks about Guimaraes too in the past. they are shit scared of us being in a position to strengthen without losing some of our best. if we can keep our our important players and bring in serious upgrades on the likes of Longstaff, Wilson, Targett etc. PL cartel does not want that as that could lead us being a regular CL side eventually.

Get us mega strong in midfield and defence and goal then get a couple of good strikers and we can still do very well despite not having an elite striker. Just need the window to be open for much longer and the season to start later.

Never got the feeling that we got under his skin and made him a believer, not like we have with the likes of Bruno and Big Joe. Feels like they’re fully on board. Isak was just here as a step in his career.

So pleased someone else thinks this. I’ve said it for ages. Feels the same for Botman, Livramento etc too imho.

I think you get these players who are clearly very very talented from such a young age that they already know they’re ’making it’ and it will be a high level career for them. I always thought Mikel Merino was the same for us.

Superstar potential so just going through the employment motions until they reach the very top.
