There are a lot of unknowns but all of this has been played out publicly and agent led or otherwise, he's clearly not happy with some things whether that be money, ambition, whatever. Whats the best case scenario? Signs a new deal and there's a picture of him shaking hands with Eddie then we pretend none of this happened? I'd be absolutely devastated if he went to them and would love him to stay but can't help feeling he's a bit tainted now. Of course, Eddie will have to be certain that he is committed, heads in the right place and all that. If there is any doubt, I don't think he'd accept that. Suppose it depends on how we spin it and Eddie I'm sure will be his usual masterful self if there was a press conference about him staying. I hope I'm wrang and we somehow find a way. It just seems a long way back already. Personal thoughts are he can get to fuck. If he signs a bumper for a year to go next year then I'll tolerate him on a transactional basis for another 12 months. No issue with him going, I've long thought we'd lose at least 2 "purples" this summer even if we got Europe/CL, but it's not what you do, it's how you do it. But we all know in the ground there'll be a very vocal section who won't give a flying fuck when he's strolling about but will be frothing at the gob waiting to grief the lads who know what it means and would do anything for the club the minute they misplace a pass. Best case scenario: We sign Wissa and Sesko and make bank on Isak. 2nd best: He signs, gives us a year and 30 goals then fucks off. *Not allowing for him pledging undying loyalty and signing a 7 year contract with a £300m release clause. Then we can brush it under the carpet. Edited July 27, 2025 by Kilcline Typos/Chardonnay

Nucasol
The disruption he’s caused, I’d rather get the money and rebuild. Just not from the Scouse melts.
Ben
I think we are reaching the stage where we literally can't sell him no matter what the Liverpool bid is

M1tche
Maybe naively, I still think he stays this summer. Problem is, now we're at the point where we need to get a striker in that can start games as soon as they join, with Isak not taking part in pre season. Wissa is also not taking part for Brenford, so we'll need someone who has been getting up to speed.
Kooiman
Craig Hope saying that Luis Diaz move to Bayern opens up a formal bid for Isak.
The Prophet
Sounds like they'll place an offer this week. Anything less than £150 million up front should be immediately rejected.
Robster
Good. Then we can officially reject it.

A) Has he downed tools or has Eddie grounded him so as not to disrupt the rest of the squad? B) The details of this promised new contract, why wasn't the review of it written in to his normal contract and who made the offer (the story I heard is that it was Staveley, maybe just a story put out to get the club off the hook) ? Is c) he's genuinely injured confirmed to not be an option? Or are we still going by twitter peoples speculations and filling in the gaps?
AmericanLooneyToon
An NFL player Miles Garrett told his team that he wanted to go to a winning team and wouldn't sign a contract under any circumstances and demanded to be traded. The team said they had zero interest in trading him. A few weeks later after all types of rumors he signed a four year extension for 160 million with the same team and all the animosity completely ended. Point is that just because he wants to leave, doesn't mean it can't be resolved. I would tell him that he has to wait for at least a year if he is that desperate because we hold all the cards. duo
I don't care what Liverpool offer - we shouldn't be selling to them.
Ilovetoon8788
based on howe's comment. it's fairly certain he won't start again for us in the league and he is preparing for life w/o Isak. its a matter of who he joins. i think it will be liverpool. sucks. but ya. I can see it being around £130m which we'll begrudgingly accept rather than waste precious days trying to achieve a better fee.
Superior Acuña
Re feelings - I reckon I’d boo him for rest of his career if goes like this. But probably when he’s retired and time’s passed, he’ll still be the guy (one of them) who scored in our cup final.

Mattoon
Their first bid is 100% going to be derisory, they think they hold the cards because Isak has thrown a strop and will get him on the cheap, full package of £120m but after add-ons and they can shove it. They don't have the brass to open negotiations, that's why the whole thing has been so cloak and dagger.
Sandrotastico
If we can't sign a fucking striker of value, he should be told to suck it up and play on. Play on his contract, that he signed with his own hand. Life's tough sometimes. He was looking moody the last 2 months of last season anyway. Going into the season with Osula, Neave and DCL gives me shivers. Going into a CL season is terrifying!

Absolutely, and although I think we may end up with Wissa, there is no chance we manage to get two strikers in imo.
