Aye, the timeline just doesn’t make any sense.  The pool of clubs that could potentially sign him is extremely small and he waited until Arsenal and Liverpool had already bought strikers leaving only PSG and Liverpool again. Leaving next summer would make so much more sense. Why go on a strike when he could have just said he wants to progress his career next summer and make the few mega clubs aware he’s available?

Obviously he’s badly underpaid but I never thought money would be the main reason he wants to go. Instead I thought he wants one of the prestige clubs so he can play for league titles and CL every season. Still think Barca next summer would make the most sense, Barca have so many players they could sell to fix their finances and get the best possible long-term replacement for Lewa.

Agree, his behaviour is almost unbelievable really. He must know that he is so valuable that there are only 1 or 2 possible moves. He doesn’t seem stupid enough to not have thought about this.

I almost hope that we’ll just say “no worries Alex, everyone has a bad day sometimes” and forget about the whole thing

Tiny possibility that he doesn’t think his body will hold up and he’ll never have a season as good as the last two, but that’s probably nothing.

If they get to £130m and bonuses, I reckon the club will cave tbh.

If the bonuses are 10mill for being in a match day squad, 10mill for kicking a ball during a game, 10mill for still being there at Halloween.

Give soldiers footballers wages?

Last seasons top scorers. Salah gets 400k, Isak 120k, Haaland +500k. It’s pretty fucking simple, eh?

He's on probably less than half what he would be for a player at his level at one of those clubs.

But, that gives us some hefty negotiating power with him. We could insist he sees out the three remaining years of his contract, which would mean him losing out on £20m+ in wages. And if he downed tools that would potentially affect his ability to earn that much in future.

We actually hold far more cards than is being made out in this, if we want to insist he stays.

I just can't see a scenario of them paying £130m before add ons. Wirtz was £100m with add ons, then their bid other year for Caciedo was £110m, to leap another £20m+ for what is not a priority position I can't see happening.

I'd offer him to PSG and Madrid for 150m with some very beneficial payment terms, like £5m up front then the remainder over 4 years instead of 3x 50m payments as would be usual.  We don't need the cash flow, the overall sale price goes into the PSR calculation whether we get the full money in one lump sum or over a few years.

If Liverpool want him they can stump up the full amount in one payment.

Why do people keep insisting that we "fold" or "crumble" or whatever and give Liverpool what they want? we hold all the cards here, we value Isak at £150m and we've stated multiple times "NOT....FOR......SALE!" so in my estimations it takes North of our valuation of him to make us reconsider our stance. The bin dippers really thought they were on to something by rocking the boat

The heel turn not even an academy award winning writer could have come up with. Honestly it’s shaken me to my core.

He's on strike now? We could use a sticky post on here with updates to keep up with all these new, trustworthy confirmed news.

He's not badly underpaid though. And certainly hasn't had close to the career of those players. I get that players can get those sums but it's fkn hideous to me. In a city like ours no footballer should get £300,000 a week. It's obscene. I do know I'm in a club of 1 mind.

That's between 6 and 7 million a year. It's certainly greedy to want more, but not unreasonable when pretty much every other player would want the same thing.

All boils down to, as rumoured two days ago, if Yasir is going to be involved in our attempt to convince him to stay. Signing Aaron Ramsdale isn't any sign of "meeting his ambitions" though, tbf. [emoji38]

 He obviously refused to travel to a preseason tour. You can call it a strike or a minor thigh injury, doesn't change much.

He's barely in the top 100 earners in the league based on these numbers ffs.

Waiting for the payment from Liverpool to come.

If no payment by 6pm, we’ll get

‘Isak only wants Newcastle, Liverpool don’t have the funds and can’t even pay me’
