I agree with this.

I don’t condone Isaks actions and I’m disappointed in his conduct. It’s not right. But ultimately he’s acting in his best interests like every human does.

It’s been in the clubs best interests to ensure we don’t get in this situation with Isak and that’s failed. So I’m more upset with those meant to look after the clubs best interests than a single player with a short career.

Also for me - I think it is now likely we were always shopping for an Isak replacement. Whether that was to play with Isak this season or not - we won’t know.  Liverpool signing Etikite is the part that doesn’t make sense to me at the moment.

Makes perfect sense because when they 'enquired' about Isak they were told to fuck off so they signed Ekitike. Him and his agent subsequently have acted the cunts so they are now circling like vultures waiting to see what happens.

I heard Craig Hope was seen walking away from the scene of the banner yesterday with spray paint on his hands. Don't shoot the messenger.

Whaaat?  The media instigating a story which then becomes the story they report?  Couldn't happen. Could it?

Ah shit, didnt see that. I had it sent to me this morning and was told it was there when I posted it but should have checked first! I should work at the Chronicle, being this far behind with stuff

It was 3 this morning that I passed it like. No idea how long it was up.

The forum loved him, plenty in the fanbase didn't. Even those who loved him knew he was mental

True that, the majority of fans I know in "real life" bought into Pardew's narrative around him.

They needed more than one forward, is all it comes down to I think. I imagine Ekitike was always a target for them, regardless of Isak.

The board saying "no, he's not for sale and you can all jog on" would at this stage be their very own version of the team winning the league cup; a nice little break with our past behaviours and performance, and a statement of intent for greater things to come :)

Would the potential suitors bearing in mind there is no bid, still want him with all the baggage he's carrying, or would that be conveniently forgotten about as long as they got their man.

Yes they would- clubs have been known to defend pdeo’s and other criminals as long as they score. One of the top strikers is not going to get turned down by many if we came out and said okay he’s available and they had the funds.

I still don't see Liverpool paying what we want. If I would have to guess, he signs a new contract with a significant pay rise and release clause.

At this stage that seems unlikely, let's be honest. If he stays, he'll let his contract run down and likely go through the motions on the pitch until either Liverpool or the next club comes back in for him.

That won’t happen I don’t think - why would we pay him more to give up control of when he leaves, we’ll just bury our head in the sands for now I reckon.

It's a way to keep him motivated to perform this coming season. Unfortunately this has now become our best case scenario, seeing as there's literally no one to replace him with, we need him to stay for another season and get back to his best.

I definitely think there been some communication gaps.

Like with Kane. There was a gentleman’s agreement that was reneged on. Then made clear he wouldn’t leave unless a certain value was hit and more likely from abroad. Communication was there but basically lies were told and contracts stuck too.

We’ve no idea what’s happened here.   It seems like Isak said he wanted to leave early on and perhaps due to a lack of leadership we never came back with a solid reply.  I don’t know obviously.

Yeah, I'm not inclined to fully jump on Isak at this time for this reason, although I can understand why many would. There are several potential ways of understanding what's gone on and it's not really worth my while spending much time speculating about it due to the lack of info - just have to watch it play out.

There's a strong chance he's just an utter utter cunt, a solid chance we've broken multiple promises around selling him this summer, and a non-zero chance he's got a nephew with a grenade strapped to his neck in a Stockholm ghetto.

Exactly. Money keeps him happy, we get a year out of him and he has a way out next summer. New DoF plans who to replace him with in 2026

We are not going to sell him without good replacement. That would be suicidal business from the club. Could even see Howe walk after that.

Unless its Eddie Howe, The Ruben's or the Chairman that made any promises and they arent in writing then he has no comeback. He can be pissed off (many players at many clubs are and have been) but realise they just have to get on with it.

Nope this seems like it is mainly on him.

Well, the proposition of my hypothesis was that it was current board members who had shaken hands on him going this summer.

But also I don't really agree with the idea that if you work for a business, and an owner of that business makes various agreements with you before unexpectedly selling up and shipping out, that you aren't entitled to feel the ongoing business should honour those agreements. De facto you might be stuck, but I'm not going to call it immoral if someone wants to take proceeding action accordingly.

But yeah, the leading idea is he's a total arsehole and/or far less intelligent and able to regulate himself than anyone had realised.

Get it in writing, or risk it never happening. And if the people you're dealing with won't agree to put it in writing, ask yourself why that might be

Verbal agreements might well be legally binding, but proving them in court ain't so easy

Let’s say we have said he can leave this summer. Surely we have said that for an acceptable price? Like he is under contract and worth more that 120-130 million surely

We obviosuly havent else we would have leaked it early in the window to start a bidding war (like we likely did Brunos clause)
