Agent doesn’t get paid if he hands in request.

Good! That should be a prerequisite to any move. Lets see how much he really wants the move then, and whose best interests the stupid agent has in mind.

a transfer request means a whole lot of nothing anyway, club still don't have any reason to sell. the only thing would probably be a release clause, which he does not have.

"Liverpool have had a £110million bid for Alexander Isak rejected by Newcastle United and, as it stands, do not intend to return with a second offer.

It is understood that the Premier League champions believe that to do so would be futile with the North East club valuing Isak at around £150million.

Liverpool’s offer fell short of the £120million figure sporting director Richard Hughes had previously indicated to his Newcastle counterparts that they would be prepared to bid. It was, therefore, always likely to fail and it is puzzling why they went in at such a level.

The initial assumption was that Liverpool would bid again, but the club later said the swiftness and clarity of Newcastle’s rebuttal meant that to do so would be fruitless.

There is a difference between not bidding again and walking away entirely from a long-held interest in a player but, amid the games that are routinely played in the transfer window, it feels like it would need a change of heart from Newcastle to add fresh momentum into matters. That could come if the club manages to bolster its own attacking options."

This is it. Liverpool probably enquired in early June. Got a firm no. Saw us going after Ekitike who was probably one of their secondary options.

They needed to make sure they ended up with one of the two, but they wanted to see if they could use the Ekitike situation to change our stance on the player leaving. So they went public with "Want Isak #1 target, will leave Ekitike alone if Newcastle open to selling"

We told them to fuck off, and they moved for Ekitike because they couldn't take the risk of us signing him, and still refusing to sell Isak.

Since then, they've just sat in the background and let Isaks agent do the dirty work. They know he wants to come, but they are not desperate for him. Let the media circus fester, and they try again later with a low ball (which we just witnessed) hoping we buckle from all of the pressure. If not, they move forward with what they have and focus on other areas

It's absolutely some version of this for sure. Infuriating!

Best summary I’ve read so far. Will steal this as my own in real life going forward.

There will be a forfeiture clause.

If these idiots are willing to pay £110 million now and have already spent £80 million on Ekitike, why didn't they just put in a £150 million bid early in the window to see if that might move us?! They can clearly afford to do so.

So they know our line is 150m. Hughes tells us he’s willing to start at 120m. And yet they come in 110m.

The only way this makes sense is if they’re trying to rattle Isak.

its not a fair reading, it’s completely made up. It is offensive to Eddie as it directly says ‘you are not in control’.

Have a think about the legal implications for him of not honoring his work contract. There are very specific clauses in elite contracts to ensure there is significant liability on the party who breaks the contract. The implications of a player ‘downing tools to force a move’ are set out to ensure that the player does not have this option. If they did, then every player would use it as the only downside to them is reputation which can be managed and doesn’t impact their incomes.

isak didn’t down tools, Eddie decided the best place for him was training by himself away from Newcastle.

What are you talking about legal implications  he absolutely could feign an injury and there’s fuck all we could do about it. It’s widely reported Isak asked not to come on the tour. You are just choosing what you want to believe.

As if EH would have choosen not to have Isak on a pre season tour and have the likes of Bruno, Trippier and Burn have to field questions from AFTV of all people why Isak wasn’t there.

You are other deluded or Naive

Isak going after we are sorted for strikers wouldn’t be the worst thing. We have responded strongly and have wrestled control of the situation back into our hands. Whatever happens from here, it can only be positive that we still have a firm sense of expectations and a clear plan.

Even if we signed Sesko you would hope that would be in addition to Isak considering how short we are in attack
