Don't think there's anything controversial or alienating there at all, nor anything that will affect whatever is happening between Isak, Howe & the club.

Same. Absolutely fine those comments.

It's just the 'sounds like it's impossible to turn it around'. Which is doesn't, we don't know that.

I'd have liked a bit more 'we don't know, it could be possible to turn it around, he has no reason to leave' etc.

Nothing major, I just don't like the assumption that he has to be let go.

Rumours last week that Shearer was texting him trying to change his mind. Dunno about trying to change his mind but I’d be shocked if shearer hasn’t txt or phoned him so maybe he does know it’s too far gone to turn around.

also have to ask yourself why we are going way out our way to try replace him. The club probably know it’s too far gone too

I think Shearer should have kept out of it. He doesn't carry any authority, but he's an important figure around the club whose views are noted and potentially influential. If the club is adopting a hard line, this is very unhelpful.

Shearer's views tend to be rather unoriginal and lacking in imagination.

And why the hell has he chimed in with the chorus that says that the window has been a 'disaster'. It's not over yet. There's still a month to go.

Yes, and it’s fucking tiresome.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/ce83vqqll00o

"It makes me think about what the priority is for PIF," Newcastle fan writer Charlotte Robson told BBC Sport.

"More and more discontent has been felt in the fanbase lately over where Newcastle sit on PIF's list of priorities, and allowing another of their clubs to benefit at the potential expense of us feels even more like we are being overlooked.

"Perhaps it's their clever way of getting money into NUFC, but I think most fans would say we'd rather an improved contract was given to Isak, the dust of the summer settles, and he stays with us a little while longer."

Just saw it. Where are yous on about? Pretty fair from Shearer

I was on the fence about him possible staying but if Shearer is saying his understanding is he wants out now then you have to think he’s heard that from somewhere. He’s probably a lot more informed about the goings on at the club than most isn’t he? It’s done - we just need to hold out for an appropriate fee now.

He was at the cup final with Steve Harper and he’s still on the staff so there’s a very easy “in” without even having to dig too deep

those quotes were from Friday morning, everyone. Love Big Al, but he's not even talking like he knows who handles the bids "who is turning down the offer with no CEO or sporting director..."

I dont like the "get what you can". May be reading too much into it.

It's sounds incredibly defeatist on his part. You only get your big money for him if it's the most absurd amount imaginable. It's fucking Liverpool. They are fucking cunts, not to mention we are supposed to be trying to rival them in the near future. Hold onto your asset even if he devalues a little. Because I'm convinced that even 150 million is highway robbery. It's not only about Isak, but:

1) we want to compete with Liverpool in the next few years,

2) Liverpool have acted in an incredibly underhanded and arrogant way if the stories are accurate.

3) we want to send the message that we won't be bullied by anyone.

4) he's a generational asset, but he's still worth more to us than he is probably currently worth in the market.

5) there are three years left on the contract. We have the leverage here.

6) we will still get a good amount for him next season. If he goes on strike during a world cup year, then he's a complete fucking idiot.

7) we have a coach who has the mentality to steer through this as well as anyone out there. That goes for some of the players as well.

8) how we approach this should also send a clear message to the other players.

And I am probably missing 5 other major reasons. I think it's pretty clear that we have the leverage here, so we should absolutely act accordingly. Parish on angel dust.

He’s got Isak’s number. Couldn’t get a bigger in than that tbf

This is exactly why Shearer shouldn’t have said that. He’s just interpreting tweets like everyone else.

He says it many times "If it really is impossible for Eddie to turn him around, and he say no, and it sounds like the case, you get your big money for him, whoever it is, you get your replacements in before oyu let him go, you get what you can and move on"

Paraphrasing quite a bit ^ mind you.

Again, from Friday morning after the first bid was made.

Shearer is like us now just a fan. He’s probably speaking casually like we do , I don’t think he’s thinking too far ahead. Albeit he’s a pundit but that podcast is more like there just having the craic in there . He’s pissed off st Isaks actions like you and I

So I’m not sure whether to post this, but I’ve just had a message saying that one final push to keep him will be pitched to him in the next 24 hours. If that doesn’t go well, expect a deal agreed with Leipzig for Sesko to follow imminently.

Where do you get this from?

What do you think happens when Isak says no and Sesko then turns us down?
