Nah. If we say he’s for sale for 150m it just empowers those goons to put in a derisory 135m offer. If we say he’s not for sale then they have to match what we’re asking for. Time to remind everyone that he’s our player and he goes when it suits us.

Reject the bid?

He knows, his agent knows and Liverpool know the price. It will ease tensions a little once he realises they are the ones taking the piss, not us.

Absolutely need to take the hard stance and not succumb to a contracted player's wishes or Liverpool playing cartel politics.

Otherwise we may as well just scrap the "project", surrender, accept that our place is not at the top end of the PL and that the cartel clubs can just use us to further their own ambition and greed.

As I said before, once the issue escalates to the level that affects PIFs reputation, they will give out the toughest response.

1. They would not accept the consequence that other view PIF / Saudi state as “weak”

2. They would not allow such a small issue would have impact on their other 99% investments

I know some of you are suggesting we are going to sell Isak once we got replacement. That’s actually quite logical if our owner is just a normal owner. But I won’t rule out that PIF would really go for the craziest option - sign replacements and let Isak rot for three years. I know this may hurt us in long term but PIF care about this when their reputation is at risk

The Edwards piece is basically the club saying that he's not for sale unless Liverpool bid £150m, and tough tits if Isak doesn't like it. Personally I wouldn't sell him to Liverpool for £150m but it's a step in the right direction imo.

Most likely all the replacements are now gone so we've decided Isak isn't going.

Let's hope so. I'm fully in spite Liverpool mode now tbh, hate how they've acted so much that I think I'd even prefer selling him to Man United or Chelsea at this point.

150m has never been unreasonable. Anyone saying so in the press is fucking stupid like. It’s world class money for a world class striker with 3 years left on his contract at the age of 25. He doesn’t just score tap ins or penalties only, he scores big goals in big games versus some of the best defenders in the world. Thats why the price is higher than most. Further, given the lack of quality strikers in football today the demand for his talent is limited to only a few clubs who can afford him; again further driving the price up. You could argue it should be far more, as it’s showing it would require Newcaslte to spend 100m+ to find 2 strikers to give similar output in goals on paper.

I'd Steve Parish the shit out of it if they met our 150 mil valuation.

While i dont believe a word of it, the club actually having a strong stance is at least something.

normally I would agree with you that it’s just a tactic to ask for more fees.

but it’s Saudi. You need to take this into consideration. They can genuinely “take it personally” and not acting like a normal owner. There is a chance that even Liverpool offer 150m we would still reject it

A few years ago when I was managing a small hospital I interviewed this kid for a junior role. He’d been a qualified mental health nurse for about 8 months. He presented well and I was going to offer him the job. I rang the agency up and their response was ‘Tim feels like he needs a more senior role.’

‘Tim shouldn’t have applied for the job then. Tell Tim to get some experience, do some nightmare night shifts, and come back when he’s earned it, if there’s a job. In the meantime, Tim can go and bollocks.’

the agency were taken aback that their bright young hope for a fat fee was not going to get his own way.  We never heard from said agency again.
isak = Tim.

You reckon?  I don't, his rage will be at us for not accepting a bid his team think is fair.  He won't blame Liverpool for sure

Think Liverpool will end up with regrets after this window, like. If they'd left Ekitike alone we might have ended up letting Isak go for £130m-ish, in the knowledge we had our replacement secured. Either that, or they weren't as keen on Isak as Isak was on Liverpool and put in a token bid where if accepted then great, if not, meh. Similar to how they bid £12m or so for Owen when we bid £16m.

Not wanting to piss on your chips, but if the way I’m reading it is correct, that analogy doesn’t really work, unless:

Tim was one of the best in the world in that particular job

And you’d tapped up Tim because he worked at another hospital and was doing great things there

And you’d paid some people on social media to say Tim should definitely leave his current job to come and work at your hospital

And Tim had a contract with 3 years left at his current job so you’d have to pay the other hospital for him to join you

And the offer you made to the other hospital for Tim was derisory so they rejected it

And Tim self certified himself as being off sick, so he didn’t have to go to work

And the agency was a Serbian gangster

And Tim was a Judas cunt

If all those things happened, then yes, Tim = Isak
