So, what Luke's saying kinda lines up with what the other reporters have been saying, right? Romano on YouTube said we offered Isak a new contract earlier this week, and he turned it down, but also said Isak could stay, 'cause, you know, Romano can't predict the future.

Ben and his talk sport crew also said Liverpool won't bid again, just like Luke pointed out. They were told Isak's not for sale.

I did say this isn't as simple as everyone thinks. That scene from The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly comes to mind. Like a three-way standoff.

Look, either Liverpool pays what we think he's worth, or they can forget it.

That's the kind of attitude I want our board to have. We won't be pushed around by a rival, an agent, or the player himself.

This.

I can only reiterate that our players, at least the ones I speak with, had no idea whatsoever that this was coming… and they are massively pissed off with him for it. As far as they’re concerned, this has only come about since early July.

No offence Paully but I don’t think your info is right on him downing tools for certain games last season.

Surely if your Liverpool you can’t see isaks attitude as a good thing, every chance he will repeat the behaviour again for them at some point in the future.

Fingers crossed Real Madrid will come knocking :happy1:

I find it very hard to beleive he downed tools back in March. He was one of the first on the pitch to celebrate when the final whistle blew, and was at the front of all of the joyful scenes that followed.

Also didn't notice any of the players giving him the cold shoulder the rest of the season which you would expect if he wasn't trying in training.

I think he was injured legitimately. He sat out some games for Sweden as well.

One thing that I beleive could have happened,  is that he grew frustrated with the fact we had to continually push to play him even though he wasn't healthy, and Howe even alluded to that in a few press conferences towards the back end of the season.

Could be one of the reasons he wanted to leave. Felt like he was being mismanaged.

All conjecture at this point

Maybe the penny will drop that his agent is a cunt?

Is he to Isak tho?  He's almost certainly doing what Isak wants, tell Liverpool i want them etc etc

Also I doubt the agent has told Isak to down tools, that's on him

It makes no sense whatsoever. No way would Howe have continued to pick a half arsed footballer. It goes against everything he stands for as we've seen this week.

Just now, The Butcher said:

He was shite from the final and in. Offered very little for 3 months. He's really good, but he's not THAT good.

Sounds like he eased off/downed tools after the final, probably gutted we accidently scored CL football last day of the season. That was his excuse to leave.

He definitely wasn't as good post LC final but I always put that down to him carrying an injury.

That's still probably the most likely reason.

There it is. The bases being covered.

Sure Newcastle have made their decision clear, by desperatly going after half the strikers on the continent.

No plan to replace Isak at all, nah nothing to see here.

You reckon?  I don't, his rage will be at us for not accepting a bid his team think is fair.  He won't blame Liverpool for sure

Agreed, but it's a bit easier to leverage the fact Liverpool wont pay his value and emphatically justify that value, than it is owning the fact you are solely responsible for him not being able to fulfill his wishes.

I think it would be foolish to assume that we didn't consider the possibility of him leaving as part of our striker search.

But its also possible we were looking to bring another big name striker in along with keeping Isak as was reported earlier in the summer.

We bought Isak in initially to go along with our #9, so its not like we csnt have 2 starting caliber strikers on the books.

Also from a PSR perspective, theirs nothing stopping us from bringing in a Wilson replacement and a young up and comer to bed in if we assume Isak will be sold anyway next summer at the latest

Good chance Paully's info will also be coming from a player or players tbf.

Yeah because we have an abundance of them in the squad, it’s not as if we released Callum Wilson earlier in the summer or anything. This is the NO post equivalent of "no you can’t have a Domino's, we have Domino's at home"

I thought Paully got most of his info from Twatter, WhatsApp groups and the fan to fan chat that comes with being a stalwart home and away

Nee offence to Paully intended as he’s a top lad, it’s just the impression created is that his sauces are at least 2nd hand

Whereas Shadow Puppets has direct connections at the club, of that there is no doubt

Fair dos mate - I would never lie about anything I’m told especially to people on here and I trust the person who told me!

A shambles of a summer either way so far!
