The daft thing is, at this point it is in their hands. If they offer close enough to £150m I'm pretty sure we would sell. We'd probably take our chances with Wissa and someone like Jackson/Aghehowa for the sake of getting the atmosphere at the club positive again.

I’m not sure I think the club i.e. the Saudis are probably resolute that he’s not for sale this summer, even for 150 million. I think Howe will be the one thinking just get shot this is untenable and we’ll reinvest.

It’s what I’m leaning towards, and I back the Saudis all the way.

I think if we got Ekitike or later Sesko and received a bid close to 150m, the door wouuld have been opened.

 

With no viable replacement at a similar level of quality, the door is closed regardless of how close to 150m it may end up being.

 

Only other option I forsee is if they go way over 150m as our board might think we never getting this kind of money again, but Liverpool have not shown any indication that they willing to go above and beyond.

If that's the case then he would want two strikers in regardless, assuming he didn't trust Isak to perform 100%. Leave him to rot in the reserves and rotate the other two.  

 

Of course a lot depends on how the talks with Isak went, no one really knows where his head is at other than Howe.

All the noise is from Liverpool media luvvies, anyone with ties to NUFC have said he's categorically not for sale, except maybe Hope but we know he's incessantly negative for the clicks. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be hanging on the words of Luke Edwards, but here we are.

 

I just hope Isak comes to terms with this quick smart because we're going to need him this season and he's going to have to realise if he wants his big move and play at the very echelons of football then he needs to continue to prove himself on the stage he's afforded here.

 

Ideally, he stays at least another year and we finish above the bin dippers in the league, as unlikely as that is, it would be just reward for this summer. I also hope they make a very public lunge for Wissa and he chooses us anyway.

Every single shred of evidence tells us that Liverpool have no intention whatsoever of getting close to £150m.

 

The low-ball bid, the constant non-updates on social media, waiting for us to "invite/encourage them" back to the table. All with the intention of forcing us into a position where we have to accept a lower price.

 

That might change with the Nunez sale, we'll find out soon enough.

Going off Howe’s interviews I don’t think very well to be honest. I’m of the opinion that Isak would probably join training, but Howe doesn’t want him around due to him agitating for the move.

 

It’s telling that Isak has been arriving after the players have left training, so technically he’s probably still training hence no club fines.

 

I think we’ll see how desperate Isak is if Liverpool bid again and we refuse, will he submit a transfer request which will probably cost him in some form.

That might actually work in our favour as it will at least show Isak the limit of their valuation in getting him. Imagine if they opted for Wissa instead.

in my mind getting close to 150m ain't gonna cut it because we have no replacement options (which they fucked up with Ekitike)

 

So I suspect he stays and sorts himself out because I dont see Liverpool making us an offer we cannot refuse

I was wondering at which point do they walk away. Their actions tell us they want another striker but are they willing to sit it out until the end of the window, not get Isak and go in with an unproven Ekitike?

I think they are definitely getting another striker, which is why I hope we tie up Wissa sooner than later. He's as close to guaranteed goals as you will get for me.
