Why did I read all that and why am I not surprised by who's strawmanning out the wazoo yet again.

Hindsight can happen quickly. Whether we liked Pardew in the 5th season or not, by the time we'd lost 2-1 at home to Reading the following season, literally everyone but two posters  (one of which left - hopefully out of shame) hated him and we had another almost 2 years of his lies and shit football after that.

That's the Pardew cycle, he goes to a football club, does his Lyle Lanley PR bit, fans get taken in, there's a honeymoon period, then he destroys your love for football and you resent him for the rest of your life.

Don't make me dig up your posts from 2010 guys.  It's fine to just admit that we all collectively got fooled for a moment there.

I'd fight that slur to my dying day.

You'll be lucky to find anything positive from anyone still here in 2010, considering he came in in December 2010 under a cloud and his redemption arc with some posters was August 2011 to May 2012 and at the latest January 2013

I can still remember putting the 5th place finish down to Pardew stumbling onto a winning formula by mistake. HBA was out of the side and only got in due to injury, otherwise I'm pretty sure he was playing Ryan Taylor down one of the flanks before that.

Nice anecdote here from Pardew days, I had lost my password and didn’t have access to my uni emails anymore to reset it, so I asked Cajun via Facebook to sort me out a new password.

Let’s say it was very anti Pardew

Still have the same password, how could I change it, miss you Jon.

This post is literally just the point I was trying to make, so who’s straw manning? Most people liked Pardew when he finished fifth. And then we turned on him quickly when he turned out to be a fraud. If everyone agrees, great.

I never liked him. Pretty saw if I looked through old posts I'd hopefully not find anything to contradict that.

Used to to think we were doing well in spite of him and not because of him in the 11-12 season.

I was also a Ben Arfa fanboy back then so was probably natural to be anti pards when he kept him on the bench for half a season.

Right there for a start. There was a huge split on here, there's no way that it was most people.

Looking back for posts in 2010...there'll be very few if any.

These were our finishes for the five seasons before and after we finished fifth. If people are taking offense because they genuinely believe they felt no fondness for the manager in the one season where we almost made the champions league in the midst of all of this bullshit, then congratulations on being a far more disciplined fan than I am I guess. (Shrug)

The redemption of Alan Pardew, Luke Edwards being the lone warrior in the media defending Newcastle, the best player we've had in generations shape shifting into a devious snake and David Ornstein's mask slipping, revealing him to be another cartel shill on the gravy train we're most certainly not on my bingo card.

This window feels like a fever dream that would even make Freddy Krueger wake up screaming

Before we get back on topic..I disliked Pardew straight away because of the shit way they got rid of Houghton and within weeks Andy Carroll was sold.

Both of these things tied him to Ashley's reign and a 5th place finish was never going to turn people's heads after Kinnear / relegation / shearer etc

No, a few goals will not erase his tawdry behaviour towards the club. Scoring goals is however, his fucking job. As long as he keeps doing that then I'll keep shtoom about his prickishness until he fucks off next summer.

If though he continues with his ED-209 tantrum then it wont work. Our owner will simply leave him too it and probably find a loophole to not only avoid paying him but sue him aswell. It will also make any would-be suitors think carefully about buying a big bubbly baby.

He won't want to risk his 'loyalty' bonus or any similar associated fees, the little snide.

No transfer request means Liverpool have made a bid which we've knocked back for a player who hasn't asked to leave.

[emoji38] Can we not just be present with our current round of modest-ish discontent without revisiting past, much worse periods of discontent (read: incandescent rage).

 We only understand events in the context of rage, man. We had to hold this bullshit up to the light of 80 years of Alan Pardew for perspective.
