Then next year when it's Tonali or Tino, it's "take £60m and move on". We have to stand firm here.

It's not going to be the same at all. First of all we would be in a much better position PSR wise that we actually could let them rot without hurting us too much.

We are not in that position now.

Sterling did less than this when he moved from Liverpool to us and he was stitched up in the media by Liverpool and booed up and down the country at every ground.

Will Isak get that same treatment by opposing fans if he ends up at Liverpool? I hope so

He isn’t going to bin his career off by refusing to play for us ever again.

What gets said in the transfer window to try and force a move and what happens when it closes are two different things.

The majority of it will get denied, excuses will be made and he will be back playing by mid September.

You think we will get £110m for a player that hasn't played in a year with 2 years left on his contract?

If he's not playing he's going to get farmed out on loan at least you'd imagine to ensure he's away from the group and keeping himself conditioned for a sale next window.

Either way, this is a rank play by him/his agent to force our hand at selling lower and meet LFC's valuation and get his move.

They've not met our valuation so fuck him and fuck his agents wants, we set a very dangerous precedent bending to agents and media pressure tactics.

100%. How much did Spurs get for Kane with 1 year?

Isak is basically the last top striker 'available'. Everyone else has moved clubs. Unless one of the cartel get relegated or some new Haaland-style wonderkid emerges, he's the top option for anyone looking

This is where Saudi should come in with a ridiculous bid. They do for everyone else, so why not us?

Even if they can't bid much because PL will come after us, if we are ever thinking of reducing our demands, we might aswell sell him a bit cheaper to Saudi. That should be safe then.

What’s the point of a contract if he’s going to do this?

Hello bank, I’ve got 3 years left on my mortgage. Just to let you know though I’ll not be paying any more after this year and if you don’t accept that I’m never making another payment again.

I don't think this sends a message to other players like. Majority of our squad are sound, decent individuals who feel lucky to be here. Winning a trophy and playing Champions League. Unfortunately 1 of them is a complete fucka who has upset the camp. They'll see right through this and want him to move imo.

We live in weird times that one tweet from a journalist is how this gets communicated. If it's even true at all.

Either way, we can't sell him because he's sulking, especially not to Liverpool at a reduced price. So he's going to have to face the consequences of refusing to do his job.

This is key. The media and click baits don’t need to work in truths. It’ll all come out at some point meanwhile strap in and hold!

This reflects so badly on Isak and only serves to harm his "brand".

If he's acted like this once, he could again which should put off any potential suitors

Exactly. If he does end up at Liverpool, what's stopping from doing this again if PSG, Real Madrid or Barcelona come knocking in future, offering him a massive pay rise?

His position and greed are only further accentuated by the fact he hasn’t put in a transfer request. You want to have the best of every world? Don’t cry when every single person thinks you’re a fucking disgrace and your reputation’s worse than shit

I’d take a player swap at this point.

Fill up our squad gaps with 3 or 4 players from a Barcelona or Real Madrid or even PSG.

PSG: Donnarumma, Lee Kangin, Ramos, Barcola

Barca: Christensen, Der Stegen, Lewa, etc not sure who they would Let go
RM: Lunin, Guler, Rodrygo, Brahim Diaz Endrick on loan etc

Just imagine. Scoring the winning goal to win the club's first trophy in decades, guaranteeing your place in history. Getting CL football. Club offers you its legendary #9 and decides to bring your international colleague to bring the deadly partnership to club level.

Twas all setup perfectly for him really to become a legend with just one more year. What a difference a month makes that now he's made Owen look good. [emoji38]

I suppose he can go to these at cut-rate if they offer to pay part of these other players' insane wages for the next four years as well [emoji38]

^ This.

Charlie Austin was on Sky Sports News yesterday, talking about VVDs first failed move to Liverpool.

VVD even put a transfer request in, but the clubs couldn't agree a fee.

The Southampton players were told at the start of pre-season, that he had said he didn't want to play for them again, so would be training alone/away from the first team. Southampton players were pretty pissed off at his stance.

Window closed with no deal done, and VVD is re-integrated back into the squad. Austin said the feelings changed for the team as they recognised he was a good player, and were glad to still have him.

Of course the move happened later, but shows that even with a transfer request and refusal to play again, it doesn't always have to go the way the player wants, and there can be a route back.
