I genuinely cant understand the mentality of anyone who says "get rid" or "let him go" etc.

Do they not realise by giving him what he wants we are just allowing other players to do the same?

Make him stay, his value will hold. Sell him next summer and add a Liverpool tax.

The crucial thing in all of this is making sure we get Wissa. Wissas injury record is good and would probably see us through most of the season. We could even find a loan deal for someone to support him.

This. We still hold the cards, the last thing we do is cave. Get another quality striker in and we can use Isak once the window closes then sell him at his full value.

take £130m and move on

I would do this, if Isak hands in a transfer request. If not, its 130M plus every loyalty payment etc. payable to Isak.

If the payments are 10M plus, the move will cost him or Liverpool (presumably him, ultimately) most of one season's worth of his new salary.

Because I dont ever want to see him play for us again. No fucking way that his value will hold if he doesnt get gametime.

getting a bit giddy at the thought of him rotting in the reserves all season and missing the world cup.

this type of carry on should be driving his price up, not down. we better not cave and give him/Liverpool exactly what they want. if we do it sets such a bad precedent.

Imagine if the “Isak rule” comes out of this. Move over, Bosman.

Can't wait to raid the European Leagues for their players just by paying off their shitty contracts to be fair. PSR loophole![emoji38]

Article 17 is fifa's rules around transfers and such. the TL;DR is if he stays at here until the 26th, he’ll be past the "three-year protected period" under Article 17 of his contract, which mean that then he could legally end the contract by paying compensation on his remaining wages and sign immediately with whoever he wants

1. Would mean the greedy fuck paying compensation.

2. Could take months to sort out by FIFA including appeals

He'll not miss the World Cup regardless. Who do Sweden have anywhere near his ilk in his position?

I don't have it in me to muster hate these days; I think that well ran dry during the latter Bruce days and got cleansed when the takeover happened. I just feel really sad and jilted about it; there was just no need at all for it to be like this.

Nobody is saying he will play for us again.

We wont get 150m next year but we will at least the 110m that Liverpool have already offered.

You have to be a tougher negotiator than that.

You think we will get £110m for a player that hasn't played in a year with 2 years left on his contract?

We live in weird times that one tweet from a journalist is how this gets communicated. If it's even true at all.

Either way, we can't sell him because he's sulking, especially not to Liverpool at a reduced price. So he's going to have to face the consequences of refusing to do his job.

The other reason we cant sell him is because if we sell him before we sign his replacement, we are going to be fucked by any club we negotiate with.

You cant negotiate a price with someone if they know you have a pocket full of diamonds.

Football is fucked like when a player can basically hold the club hostage, refuse to play, and the only recourse we have is to stop paying him for six weeks. So he sits in the reserves and still gets paid for the other 46 weeks of the year?

Ridiculous.

The club won't have to pay him if he's refusing to play like

Pretty funny they rejected 3 bids for Diaz and got their asking price for him, but for us it's basically why the fuck haven't they accepted an offer £40m below asking.

Because they're Liverpool, the "canny business" underdog club. Great bit of business standing firm on Diaz! Great bit of business unsettling Isak to get him on the cheap! Oh and Trent is a fuckin rat for running down his contract!

100%. How much did Spurs get for Kane with 1 year?
