I would like to see a statement from the club explaining its position, we let Isak and his agent dictate the media narrative all the time.

100% this

They're taking the piss out of us. It shouldn't be left up to Eddie every press conference now. Need something from above now

What a peculiar statement.

A few musings…

- The players knew nothing about this until early July (confirmed by several of them). You’d think if he’d made his position clear to the club, he wouldn’t have…

- Spoken to Elanga several times in June to sing our praises. Elanga briefly mentions this in his welcome video, and I’ve since checked and had that confirmed. He also wouldn’t have…

- Hearted and liked all of Elanga’s welcome videos etc.

- I’m not sure why people are reading into that statement as if it’s a dig at Eddie… I don’t see that at all. I suspect he’s having a dig at the supposed promise made by Staveley, and then Mitchell backtracking on it.

- The absolute cheek of saying that the silence has allowed narratives to run wild. YOU ARE THE ONE WHO STARTED IT AND REMAINED SILENT YOU FUCKING WEAPON.

- Even if his statement is 100% true (which it’s not), it’s still no way to treat a fanbase, staff and teammates who’ve been nothing but supportive of you.

He’s a fucking prick.

It’s an open and shut case. You don’t need Peter Falk on this one. Biggest cunt in the game right now

This is my only criticism of how we've managed this tbh.

All the narratives have come from him and Liverpool. Probably reflects the vacuum at the top of our club tbh

Seems to be like he's pushed this as he's getting desperate

One final act to make things so toxic that we will just accept any lowball bid

He's talking about broken promises? What would that promise have been? That he can join Liverpool? Or that he can leave? If it's to leave then surely he would accept a move to any club, it doesn't have to be Liverpool?

He's full of shit and this statement makes me wish the club match his energy and make him sit 3 years out, whilst it impacts us financially in the short term, long term we'll be fine but he'll be almost 29 and having sat on his arse which serious club goes for him

Fair play to Edwards for calling it a desparation move.

Not just giving it the OMG THE SKY IS FALLING IN clickbait shite everyone else seems to do.

I think basically everyone knows its a desperation ploy. It's only people like Romano who are going act like it isnt.

A polite reminder once again that none of this would be happening if Liverpool didn't hijack the Ekitike deal.

The problem with this is the fact they wanted both of them. They’re the big club, they get first choice.

Honestly, as churlish and/or unrealistic it may sound, even if we managed to sign two new strikers, I'd keep him for (at least) another year, out of pure spite.

We give in and sell him to them, it sets a very dangerous precedent for how to force a move, without even having the balls to put in a transfer request.

If we cannot find another buyer outside the PL, then keep him till next summer.
