Verbal agreements hold up in court all the time. But the promise has to be sufficiently definite to constitute a binding obligation and “we’ll sell you next summer if we get a fair bid” certainly doesn’t qualify.

(I’d also assume that premier league player contracts contain a standard “no oral modifications” clause)

Only if there is sufficient evidence. In our latest doc, there was a verbal agreement made between the owner of the car and the caretaker that if it was sold, he would get 10%. The owner contradicted himself in court. And since the caretaker promoted the car, got it into museums and shows, and traveled with it, his lawyer argued that he did this on the. Asks if getting 10%. Given that he kept all of the paperwork of promoting  the car, his case became much stronger. The jury ruled in the caretaker’s favor, but mainly because the owner perjured himself, and based on all of the peripheral  documentation that the caretaker kept. If he didn’t have all this, it may have been much much harder to convince the jury.

I was thinking we should create some kinda "bald cunt" superthread including Mitchell, Edwards etc... none of them deserve to be lumped in with thos Gravlax nonce, though.

Would be able to enjoy his self sabotage more if we had a fucking striker replacement. But unfortunately there is no winner in any of this. Both end up losing, club and player.

Does make me see things last season differently now though. Remember at the peak of the Arsenal media hype around Isak. It was when we played the first leg of the cup semi and he seemed to really up his game almost as a "come get me" plea.

Disagree. We can’t just sit back and let them control the narrative.

Who cares about narrative when we are actually controlling the situation?

If he wants 300 bags of sand a week, believes he is one of the best number 9s in the world and wants to challenge for the biggest honours.

Shouldn’t a player such as that, at his age, with 3 years left on his deal, in the current market. Be worth a lot more than £110m?! Not our fault if Liverpool don’t rate him as highly as we and the market do.

Can’t have it both ways.

To an understandably very reluctant seller, and with 3 years left, 110 is laughable. Which he'll be well aware of.

His beef should be with the squeaky cunts for only coming in with that, not us.

They all had 2 years or less on their deals.  Isak had 4.

You only give a player with 4 years left a new contract to keep them sweet. Mitchell doesn’t know anything about that so here we are.

A new contract last year prevents this kind of situation.

It would have, but it would also have further restrained our spending under PSR, so quite frankly the club were completely in the right to postpone those talks until closer to the end of his contract.

Also, look at how many former players seem to be turning on Isak. They are not winning the narrative battle. The club will look much better if they stay dignified, while Isak’s camp get more and more desperate.

We'd give him the wages he wanted for a year before selling him on our terms.

Hes not interested in signing a new deal, he never was, hes interested in getting his move.

I think if last summer we had offered him what he wanted which would likely have been less than £250k we wouldn't be in this position, thanks Paul Mitchell.

I do think some of the promises alluded to in his message were about strengthening the squad last summer. There were times he played last season with an injury.

I am not defending Isaks actions he is being a rat but with proper leadership we would've have not had this summer transfer window misery

So you think it's only about money?

I suspect we would have paid more and the situation still would have happened.

This behaviour is beyond the norm of any player.

I wouldnt register him for any competition.  Would give his squad number to someone else. Would remove his dressing room seat. Would even remove his allocated parking space.

If he doesnt want to take part, then he doesnt take part full stop.

Could that not be seen as constructive dismissal ?

Depends what you mean by the situation. This whole thing is far from “under control”.

We are fully in control of the Isak situation. We arent selling.

We haven't signed another striker, which is separate all together.

Isak stays = Isak loses.

Still so pissed off about this. It's so amateur from his camp, and really annoyed that Sky not picking it up,

Can anyone ask bloody Simon Jordan to call him out on the "silence" point - it's so fucking annoying - literally his agent has been driving the entire narrative. NUFC have said nothing other than Eddie being placed into awkward situations he should be involved in
