Thats a genius at work right there. Absolutely beautiful stuff.

So basically he means yes. 😂 By stating he'll have to reflect upon this saga.

We're so lucky to have him.

His brain said 'he's been fucking terribly advised' but 'for Alex to reflect upon' came out of his mouth.

True gent and true pro

People need to stop assuming he was downing tools, guy was ragged as the 2nd half of season went on. Why we are trying to pursue an established talent for the 2nd striker spot.

From connecting the dots as best as you can I probably see it as:

  • Isak informed Howe he's open to leaving this summer and giving someone he respects an early heads up so it doesn't disrupt (lol) plans too much and it's not a shock when bid comes (likely as his agent has said Liverpool and Arsenal are both in the market for a top end striker)
  • We then knowing a bid could come in for Isak, look to prioritise a more top end striker in case that does happen, so move for Pedro missed out. Then move for Etitike, miss out to Liverpool.
  • This then is when Isak agent comes into the play, likely pissed that Liverpool have moved for Etitike first and not Isak (with Arsenal going elsewhere)
  • Liverpool make a play, we reject, all kicks off.
  • We meantime now are looking at two strikers, one as a Wilson replacement in case Isak stays, but also a top end one in case we have to sell Isak.
  • Howe and Isak talking, things all good between them and aim to keep it behind closes doors.
  • Miss out on Sesko, Wissa ongoing.
  • Isak agent makes a play that promises were broken (no promises were made), played out now in public.
  • Howe / club / players want Isak to stay, door firmly open, and unless things suddenly fall into place over next 72 hours (we have two strikers lined up, Liverpool offer big for Isak), he stays and he's reintegrated.

Dot 1.... I don't think he informed Howe out of respect. More so that the person who made a promise was gone so he pursued it with the next person he thought would help him get his wish.

Anyone noticed a notable change in the tone of the pasta nonces tweets today?

Pasta nonce does what his pay Lord tells him.  I assume Isak agent is dialling it back as a precursor to the window closing.  Honestly I'm sick to the back teeth with this. I really hope he does leave at the end of this season but also hope the club gets it's stuff together and properly plan out a replacement.

Just seen a bit where Howe confirmed there were discussions with Isak 'before the end of the season' about his future.

He seemed to nod/confirm Isak stated his intention to leave then, before correcting to 'discussions were held, but will remain private'.

Yep. So if we bid for Ekitike as an Isak replacement, as seemed most likely at the time all things considered, then it beggars belief that Liverpool fucked up their supposedly preferred signing 🤷‍♂️

He's so good.

The way he answers questions (not specifically this one, just generally), I couldn't come up with anything better if you'd given me a month to prepare and could just write it in an email - he's largely doing it on the fly in front of a room of vultures waiting to pounce on any minute slip-up or inconsistency.

Given the way he's went on it's not a massive stretch to think he'd want us to miss out on the CL to give him an easier route out.

He's earned no grace here like [emoji38]

Liverpool do need multiple forwards. But aye if they really wanted Isak, letting us have Etikite - even making it seem like they let us have him - would’ve been  beneficial to them.

But they think they can bully us.

Howes decision to separate himself from the club is very clever. Anything bad towards Isak, "the club are dealing with that". That way Isak cant blame Howe on anything.

Hes even telling everyone what a nice guy Isak is... imagine how infuriating that is for Isak himself.

Just fall out with me goddammit

Im telling you the way this ends is by us and Isak having a "nice chat" whereby both sides "accept mistakes" or some shit that nobody believes whatsoever.

A marriage of convience is ahead and everyone will pretend its all fine... apart from our fans who will rightly give him dogs abuse the first time he steps back on the pitch.

Even then Eddie is smart, he will drip feed him in, probably as an unused sub at first, just to protect him.

Yeah they thought it was a power play by getting ekitike. Now they are strapped for cash to bid for isak, they want us to do them a favour and flog him cheap. 😂

The bombshell was at the end when he confirmed Isak told him 2 weeks before the end of the season that he wanted to leave. That reframes the Ekitike bid.

For me this is the most unforgivable selfish act. More interested in his own future than focussing on qualifying for the CL

Reading this thread I get the impression that at certain points this summer they've tried to replace both Isak (Ekitike and Sesko) and Wilson.

But right now they seem focused on replacing Wilson, which to me at least explains the current links.

I genuinely think Isak isn't going to be sold, they're going to get somebody in the door to replace Wilson and go forward with that.

Then probably sell Isak next summer provided he doesn't do a complete U-Turn which seems unlikely all things considered.

A lot of comments about Isak underperformed at the end of last season, with a suggestion he was deliberately below par or not trying.

So, do we want him forced to stay? Play 25-30 games, score 12?

Not sure there is a good outcome for us here, if that's not too miserable a thing to say.

Not if he sits down with Eddie and is given assurances he can leave next summer. He will then start bangin the goals in cos he will be in the shop window all season.

Won't be any 150m bids next year if so, either
