While I partly agree. The better the player, often the harder the ego to manage but I don’t think there’s another footballer in the game who’d have carried on like this. Isak is a sociopath

I'm not suggesting to buy £150m players. I'm saying if we end up with £150m players we should not be selling them. And we should be paying them as close as we can within the bullshit constraints to the going rate. 

 

I read it as you were suggesting the way to grow was to sell the £150m players and replace with other players who might one day themselves become £150m players. I'm just saying there's a risk in this, and if you do it really well your ceiling is probably fighting it out for the Europa spots every now and then. 

 

Obviously something has gone wrong at the board/negotiation level in this case. And fuck him because of how he's gone about it but in an ideal world Isak would be on a new contract getting paid what he should be going into this season. 

My thoughts over this subject are based on the position we’re now in with Isak. If we’re in that position because Isak feels he can’t get paid enough, or win enough with us, that’s down to PSR. However, I honestly think replacing him with two of the other better strikers in the PL is actually a really good solution.

 

people are suggesting we shouldn’t buy striker A or striker B because they’re not as good as Isak need to recognise the position we’re in, because of both Isak and PSR.

We should sign two more strikers and keep Isak imo  we have a gruelling season ahead of us. 

 

Obviously anyone we sign won't be as good as him - he's one of the best in the world right now.

 

I don't know our PSR position and I switch off completely when people start mentioning amortisation but for me we've not really signed anyone in the previous two years and we have the new CL format coming up. Making sure we are mainstays in that has to be the priority.

If we can get Wissa AND Larsen, park Isak until May and develop Osula this season then we'll more than replace the goals of Isak and Wilson from last season. You'll miss the spark and danger that Isak brings but you'd also gain a bit of competition by having 2 strikers who can be rotated without losing quality and can also drive each other on a bit too. Being petty as fuck I would like Isak to miss an entire year purely out of principle though. Fuck him off for 120ish in May/June

I agree with this, any sort of £300k wage would have a knock on effect on our other players, that doesn't mean I'll ever forgive him though, burnt his bridges for me.
