All I’ve heard for a solid month either on here, on other social media, and in person is our fans saying that we can’t keep a hold of him and we should get him out of the door.

Now that we are doing that people are losing my minds.

I’m disappointed that we have sold to them, but at least I have been consistent in saying that we shouldn’t sell to them and even suggesting that we should be offering him to clubs abroad.

People need to get a grip, you can’t spend 4-6 saying that we should sell him and that there is no way back for him, to then turn around and say the owners have no ambition etc.

You and Heron both saying this now. I didn't respond to Heron because I didn't want to keep quoting him, bit this is utter, utter bollocks. I can't really put it any other way.

I just hope for the good of this season that it gets that monkey off the backs of Eddie and his players. No more dealing with it in press conferences, no more side-thoughts that we do not have our best striker, no more bringing up of those statistics on how we have a poor record if Isak doesn't play as it's time to rebuild with a new team who wants to be here and make their own records.

Looking forward to the press release from our CEO about this...oh wait...

Aye - It's absolutely shit this being dumped on Eddie again and that is no doubt what will happen.

I just don't buy this at all. Now or in 12 months time Isak is still one of the best strikers around.

Brentford and Wolves understand the value in standing firm, we've folded despite having an incredibly strong hand. This is a major turning point with PIF.

Yep at least one of them would’ve put a premium price for their striker and held firm. The other is likely to get a premium price.

We have achieved neither. No premiume price. No player.  With 3 fucking years left on his contract.

A large percentage of the forum has at least been saying that selling him for such a fee, and without the replacements, is criminal.

Aye people spinning narratives and never counter points raised is getting on my nerves as well.

Exactly - they’ve lost all integrity now.

Next summer - random clubs bids for Tonali. Newcastle say “not for sale… blah blah blah”.

Aye whatever, we have no backbone and buying clubs know in time we’ll just fold.

Embrassing by our owners regardless of what happens tomorrow.

B-but this time we mean it!

On the upside, it rounds off a disastrous few weeks for Luke Edwards.

Another silver lining is that now they’ve got him, the Liverpool-supporting Home Office employee will rubber stamp Hopkinson’s visa.

It's just fucking madness to throw the leverage we had away like this.

I don't agree with the notion that this sets a bad precedent. The crux of the issue is that you're going to struggle to keep the best players in the world if you're not able to pay them the biggest salaries. Without being able to compete financially you hope to get everything else right. That involves everything from team harmony to the cultivation of a backroom or executive staff which is able to handle contract negotiations and scout smartly so that you're not too beholden to circumstance when these sort of situations crop up. It probably also means cultivating better relationships with agents and other clubs.

My concern isn't that we've folded, it's that we haven't handled this process well from the outset, we've lost one of the best strikers in the world, and as of right now we're struggling to properly replace him. Woltemade is exciting but a bit of a punt with regards to his profile and the fact that he has only one good season of top-flight football behind him. We need a more conventional threat both for balance and depth. A failure to get that right will be far more costly than any lingering shame or reputational damage.

The club deserves some criticism if they just announced to the world that they can be bullied. They haven't even lived up to their statement at all, unless they know for certain a proper replacement for Wilson is coming in. Otherwise they have just put the whole world on Woltemade's shoulders.

Of course they do, but not to the extent some people are taking it.

Some criticism. [emoji38]

Are the club guilty of neglect if we don’t sign a proven striker tomorrow?

This looks like smoke and mirrors. Nobody confirms this and SSN(I know) would be all over this rumour or not. Nada, nothing.
In the real world, to keep such a disgruntled player I'd just cutting everyone's nose off. No matter how much you fine him, ostracise him, you cannot simply throw him into the pitch and say,"Play!"

All the media would be all over this. They aren't.

On the upside it gets rid of a player who was refusing to play.

May as well focus on those who want to be here.
