The problem is he was such a calm finisher he never really had competition here, Ekitike and Salah and others at Liverpool are good finishers, he's behind Ekitike in the pecking order as Ekitke has been scoring for fun while he was getting back fitness. I am sure he will score plenty of goals for liverpool but think he'll struggle to be be not the main man relied upon but an option. Hope he sulks and fucks it all up.

I think Wilson had better numbers than him that first season with us.  Don't think he was particularly happy about not being the main man.

He did I think, but Wilson was also coming to the end, so Isak was always going to be the main man in the near future. Ekitike is younger.

I wanted Ekitike to fail but now I take delight in him outperforming the rat. Would love there to be some tension at that horrible club this season.

I wonder if due to them enquiring about him, followed by him going on strike, placed Bin Dippers in a position where they had to go ahead with the transfer regardless whether really wanted him or not to save face.

Absolutely not, they wouldn't have thought twice about fucking the whole thing off for any completely spurious reason they were shameless enough to come up with, once the damage was done between him and the fans here. They definitely wanted him I reckon

Think he'll do better against better opposition annoyingly, his worst kind of games have always been when the team he is in is the one with a lot of possession, with us and before us. When he gets to counter or given more space he'll be deadly as usual.

Much though I'd love him to fail, I can't get out of my head that he destroyed just about all of the top defenders in the Premier. Arsenal were terrified of him, and seems to me Virgil van Dyke was on a longstanding mission to get him to Liverpool after getting mugged by him regularly in the Newcastle/Liverpool games.

He's still one of the best strikers, but hopefully he'll not fit Liverpool's system and they'll get tired of his play when he can be arsed attitude.

They wanted 2 strikers to replace Jota and Nunez. Although the 2 they have now will be harder to placate when only one can play.

Was listening to some Liverpool content where they were saying he looked spent at the 60 mins mark because he had no pre season.

They'll soon learn ;D

Ekitike taking off his shirt and missing the game yesterday might have been a masterstroke. Led to their first loss and there's now a growing crowd of their fans saying Ekitike is better ;D

Ekitike does appear to be more suited to going up against low blocks as he is just more active and finds more spaces to go into to get on the ball and make things happen. He's also more aggressive and stronger on the ball holding off defenders under tight pressure.

Interesting situation :D

Liverpool fans in their forums have also convinced themselves that his form is down to him "clearly not being match fit"

Lads it's nearly October. Sounds very reminiscent of our diagnosis that he must be carrying an injury to explain his dogshit performances 2nd half of last season

His shit performances were probably because he was trying to avoid injury ahead of his lucrative summer move. His workrate in the last few games especially was awful and it almost cost us CL qualification.

Unfortunately he'll probably come good once he gains fitness. He'll be busting a gut more then.

Any eScousers out there disappointed in Isak can at least go on the Guardian and read a hit piece by one of their resident mackems about how selling Isak has left NUFC as a "diminished entity".

So LFC might not have hit the bullseye by paying a British record fee for someone who's not hit the ground running, he's not even fit, but you can still laff at them Geordies who are in shit creek because some purple prose in the Guardian says so.

Aint watched him and dont want to defend him hope he goes back to the form of his days elsewhere and is a flop but wonder if right now this early into the season if these sorts of performances are more rust etc like its the 3rd game of preseason.

Hope its more they dont setup to play to his strengths which highlight his weaknesses which let's be fair although he was world class for us he wasn't the total package and had flaws.

Even if he did fail they would get bailed out like with Darwin.
