I'd be annoyed if we don't price him out of a move basically. He has three years left - we can absolutely afford to keep him another year without seeing any drop in value.

If no new deal is signed then you have to consider it next year probably, but not now.

Exactly, it would be much more likely for something to happen next summer if he doesn't sign a new contract. Even if he's considering other options, I doubt that he would be firmly against staying for another year, and then we will see where we are at after that. Fans of other clubs obviously buys the media talk, and when I try to reason with them, I'm being defensive since I'm a Newcastle fan. They made exact same arguments with Bruno the last 2 summers. "Waving goodbye to the fans" ffs. I'd be embarassed if I bought the media narratives like that, and then nothing happened. In 2023 I made a bet with a Barca fan on Bruno going, I gave him 5:2 in his favour, and added the january window on top of that, just to make all his comments even more humiliating when he lost. To him it was so obvious that he would leave. Never heard anything from him after, and he never paid up. Considering making more bets with Arsenal and Pool fans this summer on Isak, that should atleast humble them when nothing happens once again.

I don't even think about him going because no-one could afford him anyway.

The media are absolutely desperate. Bringing up the Saudi stuff, linking Isak and Bruno to their darling clubs, getting the dinosaur ex-managers to all come out and say Eddie should have got the England job, trying to play down the significance of winning a Carabao Cup. Joe Kinnear was right, they're cunts.

Liverpool brought in that Michael Edwards guy (Moneyball?) and the same Richard Hughes that began Bournemouth's journey to bargains.

So I'd hope that means spending £120m+ on anybody is against their style and not what they were hired for.

Liverpool look a lot less appealing when Trent is likely gone this summer, and ?s over Salah and Virgil staying next season.

We need 3 key players to catapult us into the CL mix every season. Liverpool are going to need 3 key players to stand still.

We'll be in the title race next season. No one above is is that impressive.

Absolutely. Goes without saying that we'll have to recruit at the Tonali level again and keep everyone else but the hints are that we have the flexibility to do that.

I agree that we have the foundations for a title charge next season if we get three more first teamers. Our first 11 won’t be far off competing for it when fit as long as we don’t lose anyone but it’ll be our squad that stops us from putting together a consistent push for a few more years

This! Our squad depth will not be enough. Unless we manage to do even more than expected in the summer. Doubt we can afford it. (PSR)

Probs need 2-3 yrs to have that squad in place what with PSR. Other teams and fans know it’s coming though (Villa will also get a lot stronger over next few years too).

Box clever with a few free transfers to pad out the squad and a few Minteh type of wildcard youngsters with 3-4 purple first teamers and jobs a good un

Would like to get this years Milenkovic at 13m etc - don’t stress about top top tier, think about value relative to ability. We tried to get our A which is Guehi but if a B is available at a quarter of the price then go for that, their value will increase anyway.

looking at that squad scoring system:

we don’t need every signing to be an A like Tonali. B’s and C’s are useful especially since Wilson and Longstaff etc might be going. Raising the floor is important, as well as the ceiling.

I'm not sure we'll be in a title race, feel you need to establish yourself as qualifying for the champions league season after season, finish in the top three (points) closely contested before that becomes a thing.

On the flipside though, if the recruitment was superior, then it's always a possibility.

I don't think going for Guehi at 60m takes us there, so hopefully Mitchell has had a whole season to be fastidious with the plans.

We need an elite RW and new pacey R CB and probably new keeper. Stuff after that includes solid back up striker, maybe an attacking midfielder option, good quality squad additions etc.

If we get champions league I think this summer will be really exciting and we could have a really strong side next season.

My guess is we go to the continent and get a new CB for 35ish but you

hope Mitchel has some Forest CB style bargains. RW is the one position where I think they might spunk the most money and maybe go for an Mbuemo type signing but again Mitchel might have some good options.

While in no way would I want Bruno to go I just wonder if someone comes nibbling and with his stock pretty high after winning the cup would we consider selling him this summer? He is the Captain though.

I’m not convinced we’ll be in a title race next season - and we don’t know how long three of the Sky Six will remain broken.

I can’t see Man City remaining this way, too.

We’re at least four first-teamers away from that at the moment (GK, at least one CB, CM, RW) - not allowing for any departures.

We’d be pretty damn close to second place in the league with some consistency against sides around us and below us imho. Hopefully the mental block v Liverpool, City etc is slowly disappearing

It'll be a good test of how far we've come in terms of managing European football next year.

I think this is key, we saw the impact Europe had on us with injuries. The squad needs to be miles better to make a push in Europe and still qualify for Europe/CL again in the same season.

I really think so much depends on CL qualification this year. Extra funds, better chance of holding onto players and the ability to attract better players. Huijsen is prime example. Going for 50m this summer, clearly fits our profile, with CL theres a chance we'll be in the running, without CL I think theres no chance.

I like to think he'd have more foresight than to go to AFC if they could even put up the money required. I stand by that they're a big club, not an elite club. LFC potentially heading into turbulant waters with the departure of at least Trent but potentially VVD and Salah as well. MCFC have the viking.

Doing my best to not see it through black and white glasses and remove emotion, but it really feels like his only 'smart' destinations would be outside the PL at the obvious clubs.
