but for this thread I'd be completely unaware of any speculation surrounding his future

it's all tabloidy made up bollocks anyway

surprised anyone bothers watching ssn

better off tuning out and just savouring his performances and comments about loving life at Newcastle

I'd very much like it if he stayed here until he was into his 30's but we also need to be realistic.

If we can't hold onto him then we need to sell when his value is at it's highest. Is that now or one more epic season?

I think we can get 175m for him that would help the club massively.

We're so dependent on him because our other options are so poor. If by selling him we can bring the averages up, it will soften the blow a bit.

My gut feeling is one more season or.. if we end up top 4 then all that goes out the window.

If it meant I could watch him in a black and white shirt for another three years, I'd let him walk for free.

Arsenal fans seemed to have calmed down a little bit when it comes to them getting Isak but they've been relentlessly replaced by Liverpool fans thinking they'll click their fingers and will get him

Liverpool win things. Arsenal dont.

I saw they were talking about Howe to Man City yesterday.

Proper rattled because we have our hands on a trophy and trying their best to unsettle everything about us.

To be fair I think it just started with one person saying they think he could do a job at man city then stupid tabloids ran with it.

He's probably the best striker in Europe, obviously other clubs want him, and the press are going to hype it up. Just get used to it and be happy that he's under a long contract, and we'll be looking to give him a better one. We aren't looking to sell so not much other clubs or the press can do about it except stick their nose against the window and keep looking on in envy.

In theory the next 5 seasons of Isak's career should be his absolute peak. He's already generally regarded as one of the top strikers in the world, is proven in multiple Leagues and is still getting better and better. I'm not surprised other huge clubs want him and would love to sign him, it's inevitable and he's bound to be in demand. That doesn't mean we can't turn down every bid that potentially comes in for him though, he's essentially priceless imo

The only thing that changes things is if he's making noises about actually wanting a move away, that would mean we have to cash in but I think it's unlikely this summer and sincerely hope he signs a shiny, bumper new contract soon. He's magnificent

It sounds like Yasir understands the boy is money and will help make the club what he wants it to be, so hopefully his underlings get it too. And hopefully promises of ludicrously overpriced post-retirement appearance fees are made so Isak doesn't feel like he's missing out on anything.

I say let them talk and write whatever they want. Isak is our player, seems to love life with us at the moment and is on a three year contract when this season finishes. All they are achieving is driving up our determination to keep hold of him and driving up the price level at which we may start entertaining a deal. In the end, whatever happens will benefit Newcastle United.

My guess is he’ll want to wait what happens with CL qualification (this year and next) and squad strengthening over the summer before deciding on his future this time next season, whether by renewing or by indicating a willingness to move on at that stage. Should the latter happen, we would at least be able to fund the next stage of our squad rebuild and we’d still end up much better off for having (had) him.

Only thing with that is, if he stays this summer and doesn't sign a new deal, he'll miss out on a fair chunk of change.

A new contract with a release clause works for all parties.

We retain him for at least another year.

We get to guarantee a fixed transfer fee.

He gets a pay rise.

If him and his agent decide they want to move on, they know we can't price him out of a move.

He’s going nowhere and he’s getting a new deal here. No release clause either.

I agree with the first bit.  A release clause is a certainty in my opinion, however the release clause will be massive (£200 million at least).

Makes you wonder if Isak was at Spurs right now would the media be bending over backwards to link him to every club this summer?

Probably. They were regularly touting Kane to Man Utd.
